The entrance exam for 10th grade in high schools, boarding high schools, and specialized high schools (collectively referred to as the 10th grade high school entrance exam) for the 2023-2024 school year will be held from June 3rd to 5th, 2023. To ensure students achieve the best possible results in the exam, junior high schools throughout the province are currently diligently reviewing and preparing for the exam.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Cao Ba Quat Secondary School (Thuan Bac district) has 91 ninth-grade students studying in two classes. According to Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Trang, the school principal, in order to prepare well for this exam, in conjunction with the junior high school graduation recognition process and guiding students in online high school entrance exam registration, the school has organized review sessions for 9th-grade students in Mathematics, Literature, and English since the beginning of the second semester, with a duration of 2 lessons per subject per week, and this has increased to 4 lessons per subject per week since the beginning of April. The review sessions will continue until May 25th. Along with reviewing knowledge, the school has also organized mock exams for students; and has done a good job of advising students and parents on registering their preferences for admission to 10th-grade high school, matching their abilities and strengths.

At Nguyen Truong To Secondary School (Ninh Son), the atmosphere of reviewing and preparing for the 2023-2024 high school entrance exam is being implemented urgently and seriously. Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, the school principal, said: "In addition to focusing on reviewing knowledge, the school also organizes parent meetings to disseminate the enrollment quotas of high schools, and provides advice and guidance to parents and students so that they can make choices that suit their abilities. This year, 251 out of 254 students registered to take the high school entrance exam; of which, 7 students registered to take the exam at Le Quy Don Specialized High School, and 3 students wished to register for vocational schools. To achieve the goal of over 90% of students passing the high school entrance exam, after the end of the second semester, the school proceeded to assign classes according to students' abilities and assigned experienced and skilled teachers to prepare them for the exam." Increase the number of review sessions and organize afternoon tutoring; organize mock exams to familiarize students with the format and structure of the Department of Education and Training's (GD&ĐT) exam; and evaluate the results of the mock exams to help students fill in any knowledge gaps...

Ms. Tran Thi My Hanh, a math teacher, shared: "To make the review process effective for students, we develop methods suitable for each group of students. For students with weak and average academic abilities, we proactively change teaching methods, ensuring that we both review the theory of the lessons and guide them on how to solve problems, prioritizing giving them many sample exam papers to apply their knowledge systematically. For gifted students, we prioritize advanced knowledge training, helping them solve difficult questions to prepare for entrance exams to specialized schools and classes." Pham Phuong Thuy, a student in class 9A1, shared: "Besides reviewing at school, teachers also provide many instructional materials and outlines for us to self-study at home; they create Zalo groups for us to exchange exercises and ask teachers questions when we don't understand something... Thanks to this approach, we feel more confident to strive for the best results in the upcoming 10th grade high school entrance exam."

According to Mr. Phan Thanh Hoang, Deputy Head of the Education and Training Department of Ninh Son District, to prepare well for the 10th grade high school entrance exam, right from the beginning of the school year, the District Education and Training Department has directed affiliated junior high schools to focus on improving the quality of general education and reviewing knowledge for 9th grade students. Currently, all 8 junior high schools in the district have completed the end-of-semester II exams and are "racing against time" to organize knowledge review sessions for students. Through regular inspections, all schools have strictly complied with regulations on organizing review sessions for 9th grade students.

For the 2023-2024 school year, the entire province will enroll 6,246 students in 157 classes of 10th grade in public high schools, a decrease of 113 students and 1 class compared to the previous school year. Specifically, Le Quy Don Specialized High School will enroll 250 students in 8 classes; the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School will enroll 105 students in 3 classes; Pi Nang Tac Ethnic Boarding High School will enroll 70 students in 2 classes; and the remaining 17 public high schools will enroll 5,821 students in 144 classes. Regarding the enrollment method, Le Quy Don Specialized High School will conduct entrance exams; the remaining ethnic boarding high schools and other public high schools will use a combination of entrance exams and selection based on academic records. Enrollment zoning will be implemented according to the direction, approval, and decision of the Provincial People's Committee.
