Celebrating Vietnamese tea culture

The Hue International Tea Festival 2025 will take place at Truong Sanh Palace in the Hue Imperial Citadel, one of the ancient and culturally rich spaces of the former imperial capital. This is a particularly significant event, marking the beginning of a series of important activities concluding the National Tourism Year with many memorable moments.

Held for the first time in Hue, the International Tea Festival carries the mission of honoring Vietnamese tea culture, fostering dialogue between artisans and tea producers from Vietnam and abroad, and revitalizing the tea industry through the combination of traditional values and contemporary creativity. From this, Hue hopes to develop a unique tourism product – health and wellness tourism based on the Tea & Wellness model – blending the spirit, slow lifestyle, and Eastern cultural identity, contributing to increasing the attractiveness and expanding the influence of Hue tourism.

Seminar "Tea in the Flow of Culture and Creativity"

Mr. Hoang Vinh Long , Chairman of the Vietnam Tea Association, shared that tea holds a special place in Vietnamese culture, encompassing social, cultural, artistic, and spiritual aspects. Vietnamese people have been consuming tea for a very long time. In Vietnamese families, a cup of tea is always present during holidays and festivals. Tea culture is also a source of inspiration for many literary works and poems; it is closely linked to the lives of farmers and provides employment and livelihoods... And tea festivals like this one contribute to honoring Vietnamese tea culture.

Creating new tourism products for Hue.

Mr. Le Van Do, Branding Product Strategy Advisor and expert in the tea and coffee industry, shared that activities like this festival are opportunities for local brands to develop and contribute to creating products and promoting tourism. In fact, international tourists also enjoy drinking tea, and this provides a basis for developing suitable products. “For Hue, Truoi tea is already well-known, but the locals lack the experience to preserve this specialty through processing technology. The Hue International Tea Festival 2025 will open up opportunities for exchange with tea producers and artisans, opening up avenues for the development of Truoi tea as well as suggesting directions for tourism products,” Mr. Do shared.

Truoi tea will be introduced and promoted at the Hue International Tea Festival 2025.

According to the Director of the Hue Department of Tourism, Tran Thi Hoai Tram, this is the first time the Hue Department of Tourism has collaborated with the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center and other relevant units to organize the International Tea Festival, with the support of the Vietnam Tea Association (VITAS) and the ASEAN Tea Association (ATO). This event promises to be an important starting point, laying the groundwork for an annual event with cultural, artistic, and tourism depth, contributing to enriching the identity and increasing the attractiveness of Hue as a destination in the international tourism landscape.

Currently, the tourism industry is researching and developing new products. One of the products being pursued is health and wellness tourism based on the Tea & Wellness model, aiming to provide tourists with more attractive new experiences during their visits and exploration of Hue, especially during the unfavorable weather of the rainy season, thus expanding its reach to a wider audience. This initiative aims to honor Vietnamese tea culture and revitalize the tea industry in conjunction with tourism development.
