Russian President Putin welcomes Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the expanded BRICS conference

According to VNA Special Envoy, on the evening of October 23 (local time), at the Kazan Expo Convention Center, Kazan city, Tatarstan Republic, Russian Federation, Russian President Vladimir Putin - Chairman of BRICS Group in 2024 - presided over the welcoming ceremony for the Heads of Delegations and solemnly welcomed the Delegations attending the BRICS Leaders' Meeting and BRICS Plus.

The BRICS and BRICS-Plus summits were attended by leaders from 36 countries and territories, including 22 delegations with representatives at the highest level, at the head of state level, such as: the General Secretary and President of China; the General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith; the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa; the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan; the President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro; the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev; the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko; the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev; the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi; the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan… The conference was also attended by leaders of 6 international organizations, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.

The BRICS and BRICS Plus Summit, along with dozens of related events within the framework of the Summit, took place from October 22-24 in Kazan city, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation.

At the BRICS Summit, whose main theme is “Strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security”, the leaders discussed the creation of a new financial and political system characterized by fairness, equality and mutual respect, support for multilateral principles and strengthening the role of developing countries in global governance. The Summit aims to strengthen the position of the BRICS Group in the international arena and will develop cooperation between participating countries in many areas.

Meanwhile, the BRICS Summit with the theme “BRICS with the Global South: Building a Better World Together” focused on discussing strengthening cooperation between BRICS and the Global South to promote new growth drivers such as digital economy, green economy, circular economy, science and technology, innovation, building a balanced, effective, inclusive global governance ecosystem, promoting the role and voice of developing countries.

The BRICS Conference and related conferences and events will also review and establish mechanisms and models of cooperation and integration, helping BRICS to become increasingly influential and bring more benefits to participating countries.

On October 23, at the BRICS Summit, leaders of member countries adopted a joint statement, which provided an overall assessment of the world situation as well as the group's long-term goals.
