Ho Chi Minh City brings Vietnamese tea and coffee to the US to promote tourism.

The Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism promotion program in the US took place on October 13th, led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Department of Tourism, along with 11 representatives from airlines, travel agencies, and hotels.

The event was attended by 100 guests from travel businesses in California and consisted of three parts: a seminar introducing destinations and new tourism products of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, especially those suitable for the US market; an introduction to tourism projects that need to attract US investors to Ho Chi Minh City; and B2B meetings - direct meetings between businesses from both countries.

Tourism promotion activities between Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in the US will continue for the next three years.

Attendees also received special publications and gifts from Vietnamese tourist destinations and Ho Chi Minh City; experienced Vietnamese cuisine , enjoyed Vietnamese coffee and tea, along with performances of traditional musical instruments, and other interactive activities such as painting conical hats and a lucky draw…

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa stated that the program is particularly significant as it was held right after the two countries issued a joint statement elevating their comprehensive strategic partnership, in which tourism is one of the 10 identified areas for promotion and cooperation.

The program involves leading airlines, travel companies, and hotels.

"The Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry believes that this activity not only contributes to the implementation and concretization of the joint declaration between the two countries but also opens up many opportunities to increase tourist traffic between the two countries in the future," the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism observed.

According to Ms. Anh Hoa, with the new visa policy, Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular always hope to welcome the Vietnamese community and American tourists to experience and feel the changes in Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City today.

Traditional musical instrument performances serve to promote and boost tourism.

Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco, California, expects that after the program, the number of American tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City will increase because the city has a rich culinary scene that suits American tastes and still preserves traditional cultural and historical values.

It is expected that tourism promotion activities between Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in the US will continue for the next three years to develop a sustainable market.

Before the Covid-19 outbreak, in 2019 Vietnam welcomed approximately 746,171 American tourists, with Ho Chi Minh City receiving 561,862 of them. In 2022, Ho Chi Minh City also welcomed 265,047 American tourists.

According to the Department of Tourism, the US market has significant growth potential and has consistently ranked among the top 10 tourist markets to Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in recent years .
