Ho Chi Minh City wishes to establish relations with North Korean localities

On the afternoon of March 27, Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, received a delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea led by Comrade Kim Song Nam, Head of the International Department of the Workers' Party of Korea, State Councilor, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of Korea, who is visiting and working in Vietnam.

Comrade Nguyen Van Nen welcomed Comrade Kim Song Nam and his delegation to visit Vietnam in the context that the two sides are looking forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025. The Party, State and people of Vietnam in general, and the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City in particular, always attach importance to the traditional friendly and cooperative relationship with the Party, Government and people of North Korea, always remember and appreciate the support and solidarity of North Korea for the cause of national liberation and national construction of Vietnam.

On behalf of the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City, Comrade Nguyen Van Nen congratulated the socio-economic development achievements of North Korea under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un after the 8th Congress. During the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Van Nen introduced the socio-economic development situation of Ho Chi Minh City; said that the two sides still have much room for cooperation and wished to promote the establishment of relations with localities of North Korea in the coming time. Ho Chi Minh City is ready to participate in contributing to the development of relations with North Korea in order to realize the common perception reached between the senior leaders of the two parties and the two countries.

Appreciating the role and position of Ho Chi Minh City, comrade Kim Song Nam said that Ho Chi Minh City has performed well as a locality with a developed economy in the country. This year is also the 5th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Un's visit to Vietnam. Mr. Kim Song Nam affirmed that the Party and Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea always attach importance to and wish to further develop the traditional friendship with Vietnam, which was established by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kim Il Sung and the leaders of the two countries, and is ready to work with Vietnam to thoroughly implement the common perceptions reached between the senior leaders of the two parties and the two countries.
