Empowering thousands of students
In the 2024-2025 academic year, the 1&1 scholarship program awarded 1,640,000,000 VND to 318 underprivileged but academically excellent students in Ho Chi Minh City.
Of these, 77 students received the scholarship for the first time, and 241 students continued to receive the scholarship in subsequent rounds (from the 2nd to the 6th round) throughout their university studies.
The merit scholarship is awarded to students who overcome difficulties and excel academically, with the aim of supporting them in overcoming life's challenges and pursuing their dreams of developing their talents to serve the country.
At the ceremony, delegates also presented flowers to congratulate 84 students who graduated and matured thanks to scholarships from the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Promotion of Learning.
Associate Professor Dr. Truong Thi Hien - Vice President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning - said that the 1&1 scholarship is a scholarship from the heart, contributing to the cause of building a learning society in the city.
"We see this as a connection filled with love and responsibility, stemming from the hearts of the sponsors. The scholarship is truly valuable because it involves the participation and support of many people, carrying the deep gratitude of many families."
"By demonstrating the spirit and responsibility of students, they have made great efforts in their studies and achieved great results. The successes they have achieved are truly commendable, and this includes the efforts and contributions of their benefactors, who are full of love and responsibility," Ms. Hien said.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, highly appreciated the significance and practical results of the scholarship program for promoting learning and talent.
"The scholarship has empowered thousands of academically gifted students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The association also focuses on fostering moral character and developing skills for students. The scholarship is attracting an increasing number of individuals both domestically and internationally. It is noteworthy that the scholarship attracts many young people, with those who came before helping those who come after."
"The Association for the Promotion of Learning will continue to play its role and proactively collaborate with various sectors to enhance the effectiveness of promoting learning and talent development in the city. We aim to build a learning society with a focus on promoting lifelong learning. We will ensure that no disadvantaged student is forced to drop out of school," Mr. Nhan affirmed.
Supporting students throughout their studies.
Having lost both his parents, Do Minh Tri (a student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy) was overjoyed to receive sponsorship from Mr. Nguyen Khanh Dang.
"I am honored to receive this scholarship; it is a great source of motivation that helps me believe in myself and continuously develop. The care and enthusiasm of the teachers make me clearly feel the power of belief and hope, illuminating the path we are taking."
"We are underprivileged students, each with burning dreams and aspirations. No matter the circumstances, I am determined to overcome obstacles to attend school, study, and build a bright future," Tri confided.
Nguyen Khanh Dang, a former scholarship recipient and Nike employee, says he has been helping other students for nearly 19 years.
"I realize that difficulties are only temporary, and at certain points in life, there will be people to help you overcome them. We will keep an eye on them, calling every 3-6 months to check on them and offer encouragement, and this will be a source of moral support for them to move forward," said Mr. Dang.
"This scholarship fund is very meaningful to me. Besides its material value, throughout the four years I received the scholarship, I always received spiritual support from benefactors. In addition, the fund also has a club for disadvantaged students, which helped me expand my network and find part-time jobs," shared Ngo Tuong Vy, a postgraduate student at Saigon University.
