On December 14, the Association of Vietnamese Professionals in Japan (VPJ) successfully organized the event "VPJ Career Forum 2024: Future trends and career paths" in Tokyo, Japan.

With the participation of more than 100 young Vietnamese intellectuals in Japan and the presence of 5 speakers who are leading experts in the field of information technology (IT), the event brought many practical values, helping young people to more clearly define their future careers.

According to a VNA reporter in Tokyo, in the first discussion session with the theme “IT trends and in-depth perspectives,” speakers shared with young people the latest information on IT, digital transformation, cyber security, along with the latest technology trends.

Mr. Nguyen Dong Dung - Senior Advisor at HBLAB JSC, emphasized that digital transformation is not just a story of the IT industry but a comprehensive change in the way businesses operate and create value.

Sharing his experience working at large corporations, he introduced young people to the current situation and challenges of digital transformation, and said that in the next 10 years, artificial intelligence (AI) will continue to explode, however, the role of project management still requires human intervention and strategic decisions.

Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thao, a PhD in Information Security currently working at the Japanese media corporation KDDI Digital Security, provided an overview of the cybersecurity situation in Japan.

She said that the Japanese Government is currently increasing investment in cybersecurity with a budget of 6 billion yen (about 39 million USD) from 2025, opening up great opportunities for Vietnamese IT and security experts to develop their careers in this field.

Lessons learned in the process of starting a business in the IT industry are also a topic of interest to young people. Mr. Do Ba Duc, founder and current CEO of Tokyo Techies, shared his practical experience in the journey of starting a business and gave many professional advices, as well as management and planning to develop successful products.

In the second discussion session, Mr. Nguyen Huy Thang - CEO of HBLAB JSC, and Mr. Vu Nhat Minh - Senior Software Engineer at Stripe, brought to the young people two different perspectives from a leader and a technical expert.

However, both speakers gave the same advice to young people: “There is no right path for everyone. The important thing is to make the best of your choice and persevere to the end.”

VPJ is a non-profit organization of young Vietnamese professionals working in Japan that started operating in 2016. With the goal of becoming a career consulting and connection center for Vietnamese students and young intellectuals, VPJ has organized many career discussion and sharing events, interview training, consulting and many other career guidance activities.

Following the success of previous events, VPJ Career Forum 2024 not only brings practical and inspiring sharing from leading experts to young people working and intending to work in the IT field in Japan, but also creates opportunities for young people to expand relationships and connect the young Vietnamese community in Japan through the final part of networking.

Young attendees appreciated that the event helped them orient their future careers more clearly, especially in the context of constantly changing technology in Japan./.
