Implementing the National Target Program for Drug Prevention and Control until 2030

On the morning of October 9th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a nationwide online conference to implement the National Target Program for Drug Prevention and Control until 2030.

The conference was connected from the Government Headquarters ( Hanoi ) to the People's Committees of provinces, centrally-administered cities, and communes, wards, and special administrative regions nationwide.

At the central location, the attendees included Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long – Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for National Target Programs, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug, and Prostitution Prevention and Control; along with leaders from various ministries, departments, and central organizations.

At the Lam Dong provincial venue, Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presided. Also in attendance were representatives from the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, leaders of departments, agencies, political and social organizations, the Provincial Police, and delegates participating online at more than 140 locations at the commune, ward, and special zone levels throughout the province.

Representatives from the Lam Dong Provincial Police and other departments attended the conference.

The conference aimed to thoroughly understand and concretize Resolution No. 163/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly and Resolution No. 50/NQ-CP of the Government on the implementation of the National Target Program for drug prevention and control until 2030, ensuring the completion of objectives and tasks on schedule and effectively.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that ministries, sectors, and localities continue to thoroughly understand the spirit of "prioritizing prevention, placing the people at the center and as the main subjects in drug prevention and control"; and implement comprehensive solutions from education to propaganda aimed at "reducing supply, reducing demand, and reducing harm".

The implementation of the National Target Program for Drug Prevention and Control for the period 2025–2030 is an important step in controlling, preventing, and eradicating drug abuse, contributing to ensuring security, order, social safety, and public health.

The conference received attention from many local departments and agencies.

At the conference, the Ministry of Public Security reported on the results of drug prevention and control work in the past period and introduced the key contents of the National Target Program for Drug Prevention and Control until 2030.

Within the framework of the conference, representatives from ministries, departments, and localities presented papers and shared practical experiences and solutions, contributing to improving the effectiveness of drug prevention and control.

The conference also emphasized strengthening coordination among ministries, departments, and localities; mobilizing the strength of the entire political system in drug prevention and control; promoting propaganda, education, prevention, and control of drug-related crimes, contributing to ensuring security, order, and sustainable development.
