eTax Mobile has been continuously upgraded with a "one-stop shop - one-touch" approach.
The Tax Department recently held a nationwide online and in-person conference to train participants on the new features of the eTax Mobile application and to deploy an AI chatbot to support taxpayers.
This is an important activity aimed at helping tax officials at all levels to master, correctly understand, and skillfully use the new functions of the system, thereby improving the effectiveness of supporting citizens and businesses, especially household businesses and individual business owners, in the process of registering, declaring, and paying taxes conveniently, minimizing time and compliance costs.
According to Deputy Director of the Tax Department Mai Son, after nearly four years of operation, eTax Mobile has been continuously upgraded following the "one-stop shop - one-touch" approach. The application now integrates login via VNeID and provides all important functions such as tax registration, declaration, tax payment, payment on behalf of others, checking financial obligations, registering or adjusting electronic invoice information, and responding to information related to business households. The consistent goal is to help taxpayers fulfill their obligations at any time, regardless of office hours or having to go to the tax office.
In the context of increasing demand for immediate support, especially as taxpayer data and scale grow, the Tax Department has taken a new step by integrating artificial intelligence to provide direct support on eTax Mobile starting December 6, 2025. The AI chatbot is deeply integrated with the tax management database, allowing users to interact using natural language, ask questions, and receive instant responses.
The tool operates 24/7, supporting information lookup on tax debts, enforcement actions, and exit status. It also integrates speech-to-text conversion, response replay, and incorporates feedback from taxpayers for continuous self-learning and improvement. This clearly demonstrates a taxpayer-centric approach to administrative reform.
Mr. Mai Son stated that 2025 will be a breakthrough year for eTax Mobile. From March 2022 to the present, the application has had over 13 million downloads and installations. The platform has processed 17.2 million tax payment transactions with a total amount exceeding 26.5 trillion VND.
In 2025 alone, the number of new registrations reached over 7 million, 1.2 times the total of the previous three years. The number of transactions reached 13.3 million, more than 3.36 times higher than in previous years; the amount of money collected reached nearly 18 trillion VND, more than double the amount of the previous period.
eTax Mobile currently ranks number 1 in the "Business" app category on the Vietnamese App Store, reflecting its widespread popularity and trust among the public.
Integrating AI chatbots into eTax Mobile is considered the optimal digital solution for tax procedure reform. Previously, taxpayers had to contact a call center or visit a one-stop service center in person for answers, and these channels were easily overloaded during peak times. AI chatbots overcome this limitation thanks to their ability to provide continuous, instant responses and handle a large volume of questions simultaneously without interruption.
Based on a big data model, the chatbot can understand questions in natural language, providing appropriate guidance for each tax type, obligation, and taxpayer group. This standardizes and unifies the support process, reducing the risk of errors or discrepancies in interpretation between different localities.
For taxpayers, especially household businesses, the AI chatbot is seen as a "personal tax assistant" accompanying them throughout the process of fulfilling their financial obligations. Users can quickly learn about regulations without having to read entire lengthy and difficult-to-understand legal documents. When needing to perform a specific procedure such as tax registration, business license fee declaration, or switching from lump-sum tax to declaration-based tax, the chatbot will guide them step-by-step, with accompanying links to the operation directly within the application, significantly reducing errors. The system can also remind taxpayers when deadlines are approaching, when revenue needs to be updated, or when financial obligations arise, thereby helping household businesses be more proactive in management and compliance.
Beyond simply answering questions, the AI chatbot also assists businesses in practical transactions such as creating electronic invoices, paying taxes through linked banks, or checking tax obligations using identification codes. This helps businesses avoid going to tax offices or using intermediary services, saving significant time and costs.
In some cases, chatbots can even estimate tax obligations based on revenue provided by users, assisting businesses in planning their finances in stages, which is especially useful for seasonal industries.
AI chatbots are also tools that help household businesses quickly access knowledge about financial management and invoicing, which were previously difficult and less accessible topics. When households switch from the lump-sum tax method to the declaration method, the chatbot helps them understand how to record expenses, store documents, and prepare reports correctly, thereby operating more transparently and efficiently.
In the national digital transformation process, AI chatbots are expected to play a crucial role, contributing to improved management efficiency and promoting a more transparent and favorable business environment in Vietnam.
