This afternoon (June 22), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology announced the cutoff scores for the early admission method. This is the first admission method the university has announced results for this year.
Students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology during a practical session.
Specifically, this includes the method of prioritizing direct admission for excellent and talented high school students as regulated by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and the method of priority admission as regulated by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
In this admissions process, the priority admission method is as stipulated by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and the cut-off scores for each major are shown in the following table:
In this preferential admission method, the school considers candidates based on the average score of subjects in the chosen subject combination from grades 10, 11, and 12; an essay; and letters of recommendation.
The admission cutoff score is the same for all subject combinations when a major/group of majors has multiple subject combinations. This score is also the same for majors within the same group. Students will be assigned to a major from their second year based on their preferences and academic performance.
In cases where multiple candidates have the same admission score and the number of candidates exceeds the quota, for the Industrial Management and English/Advanced programs, the candidate with a higher English score will be admitted. For all other programs, the candidate with a higher mathematics score will be admitted.
Candidates who have been announced as expected to be admitted through priority admission/direct admission (or any other early admission method) must re-register this nguyện vọng (preference) on the Ministry of Education and Training's admissions registration portal from July 10th to July 30th. Failure to re-register means that the candidate will not use this result in the admissions process.
Candidates who do not meet the admission requirements can still apply to their preferred majors using the university's Method 5, which combines multiple criteria. Candidates applying through this method register their preferences on the Ministry of Education and Training's portal from July 10th to July 30th and also provide additional information (personal information, high school transcripts, personal achievements, foreign language certificates, etc.) on the university's website.
In 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology admitted students through 5 methods.
- Method 1: Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (1-5% of the total quota).
- Method 2: Priority admission according to the regulations of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, accounting for 10-15% of the total quota.
- Method 3 involves selecting candidates with international admission certificates or foreign students (only applicable to advanced programs taught in English) accounting for 1-5% of the total enrollment quota.
- Method 4 involves selecting candidates intending to study abroad into international transfer programs, accounting for 1-5% of the total enrollment quota.
- Method 5 involves a combined selection process based on multiple criteria, including: aptitude test results, high school graduation exam results, high school academic scores, and other qualifications (certificates, awards), accounting for 60-90% of the total quota.
