On the morning of September 5th, Kim Dong Primary School (Tu Mo Rong commune, Quang Ngai province) held its opening ceremony for the 2025-2026 school year in a warm, simple, yet meaningful atmosphere.
A special feature of this year's opening ceremony was the launch of a piggy bank fundraising activity to provide free lunch and support for poor and orphaned students who are not eligible for boarding school.

Early in the morning, in front of the opening ceremony platform, a small piggy bank was placed prominently to receive contributions from teachers, parents, students, and local leaders. One by one, each child, teacher, and parent contributed their savings and packets of instant noodles to the piggy bank, expressing their generosity. Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong commune, along with many other commune officials, also participated in contributing during the ceremony.

Student A Nhat Thien Hung (class 5A1) expressed: "I think saving money in a piggy bank is a meaningful way to help students in difficult circumstances. I also participate in supporting it, although it's not much, it's from my heart."
According to Ms. Ho Thi Thuy Van, Principal of Kim Dong Primary School, the school currently has 707 students and 46 staff, teachers, and employees. Due to the long distance from home, many students are not eligible for the boarding program and frequently miss afternoon classes because they have to go home for lunch. For the past five years, to overcome this situation, the school has maintained a free canteen and also provided meals for orphaned and disadvantaged students from Monday to Friday each week.
"This school year, the school plans to provide free lunch for 74 students at the Kon Pia school site and directly support 30 orphaned and disadvantaged students. Funding for these activities over the years has mainly come from teacher contributions, fundraising from selling pigs and chickens, and support from benefactors. To secure additional resources, we launched a fundraising campaign during the opening ceremony, hoping that every act of sharing, however small, will help the children have more nutritious meals and focus on their studies," Ms. Van shared.

Highly appreciating this initiative, Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong commune (Quang Ngai province), said that the school's act of taking in poor and orphaned students, providing free lunch, is a humane gesture that contributes to improving the quality of education . This model should be replicated so that children who are not eligible for boarding school also have more opportunities to attend school regularly.
