Many major Korean newspapers published articles praising the results of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Korea from June 30 to July 3.

The Korean newspaper Donga Ilbo published an article titled “Korea’s success is Vietnam’s success”, emphasizing that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made this statement during a speech at the Asian Research Institute of Seoul National University.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to exchanges and cooperation with Korea. He also mentioned the cultural similarities between the two countries such as: Koreans have a saying "Education is a 100-year policy", while President Ho Chi Minh said "For the benefit of ten years, plant trees, for the benefit of a hundred years, educate people".

The newspaper quoted Seoul National University President Yoo Hong-lim as saying that over the past 10 years, about 600 Vietnamese students have studied at Seoul National University. Currently, the university has 46 Vietnamese students. President Yoo said the university plans to continue to maintain and expand cooperation in research fields with Vietnam in the future.

Hankuk Kyongjae newspaper published an article titled “The Perfect Place for a Semiconductor Factory” in which it said that Vietnam is trying to attract investment in the Korean semiconductor sector.

During his recent visit to South Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and discussed plans to attract semiconductor investment, and then visited Samsung’s semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek. Vietnam’s Bac Giang province has been mentioned as a leading candidate for the investment location.

According to the article, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam welcomes and encourages investment in semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI). He stated that Vietnam “will promote the ecosystem in these fields”. He emphasized that “Vietnam will strive to nurture high-quality talent, improve the system and develop infrastructure to best support companies investing in the development of the semiconductor industry”.

According to Hankuk Kyongjae newspaper, attention is focused on whether this move will actually lead to the implementation of semiconductor investment in Vietnam. If the semiconductor investment becomes a reality, the Bac Giang area near Hanoi is being mentioned as one of the favorable locations for Korean companies to penetrate the market.

Since Samsung produces nearly 50% of total smartphone output in Vietnam, the possibility of semiconductor investment cannot be considered low. This is because smartphones mainly use general-purpose DRAM memory semiconductors such as LPDDR. Samsung's total investment in Vietnam to date is approximately 22.4 billion USD. With more than 90,000 workers working locally, Samsung Vietnam's export turnover is approximately 55.7 billion USD. Samsung currently produces not only smartphones but also network equipment, TVs, displays and batteries in Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen.

Hankuk Kyongjae newspaper quoted Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong as saying that the company is planning to invest in the display sector and in the next 3 years, Vietnam will become the world's largest display manufacturing base.
