Starting his journey of sharing knowledge about reproductive health and gynecological diseases on TikTok in April 2021 with the channel Doctor Cung (@bacsicungungbuou), Dr. Tran Duc Cung (also known as Doctor Cung) has chosen a relatable and easy-to-understand approach to disseminate essential information to everyone.
The reporter spoke with Doctor Cung to learn more about the journey of building and developing the Doctor Cung channel on the TikTok platform.
As a doctor with many years of experience, what motivated you to start sharing your health knowledge on TikTok?

Dr. Cung: My main job is being a doctor. In April 2021, amidst the complicated Covid-19 pandemic, I turned to TikTok as a way to spread knowledge about disease prevention and health protection to the community. For the past three years, my TikTok channel has been a place to share information and professional knowledge on how to prevent diseases and protect health, especially focusing on reproductive health and gynecological diseases.
Driven by a desire to support people on their journey towards more holistic healthcare, after more than a year working with TikTok, I recognized the potential of TikTok Shop and decided to try my hand at a new role: selling healthcare products. Starting with products specifically for women, I gradually expanded to include products for the whole family, from adults to children, with the goal of providing comprehensive healthcare solutions for everyone.
When we first started our TikTok Shop business, we faced difficulties with operations, getting familiar with the platform, and its rules. However, my wife and I taught ourselves, learning from the smallest details, overcoming the challenges, and fortunately, gaining recognition. In the early stages of developing the channel, because we had more time at home due to social distancing caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, I shared 5-6 videos a week; currently, I maintain one video a week.
Currently, selling through TikTok Shop is one of the dominant business methods in online commerce. How do you assess the trend of TikTok and the policies of TikTok Shop towards sellers?
The appeal of TikTok Shop in today's booming online business era is undeniable. As one of the fastest-growing platforms with a massive user base, TikTok opens up huge opportunities for sellers to reach potential customers.
However, this platform also has its own rules that must be followed. TikTok Shop's policies are quite strict, requiring sellers to thoroughly understand them from the outset to avoid violations. Even a small mistake during a livestream can lead to being disconnected or even having their channel blocked.

The pressure to create engaging content is also a challenge. To attract and retain viewers, sellers must constantly innovate and create captivating videos, avoiding repetition and boredom. Filming and editing high-quality videos that keep up with trends also requires skill and investment. To succeed on this platform, sellers need serious and systematic investment, from building a channel and creating content to understanding and complying with TikTok's policies.
Having participated in the "Key Career" program, how do you assess its impact on the community, especially on the younger generation of creators?
Participating in the "Key Profession" program organized by TikTok Shop was an incredibly meaningful experience for me. The program helped change society's perspective on online business, especially livestream selling – a relatively new profession that is not yet widely recognized.
"The Key Profession" has given viewers a more authentic and intimate look at the work of an affiliate marketer. It's not just about fun, engaging live streams; behind it lies a serious, creative, and dedicated process. Through the program, people can clearly see the positive values that content creators bring, and better understand the potential for growth in the live streaming profession in the digital age.
Through the "Key Professions" program, I hope that people will gain a more accurate understanding of the livestreaming sales profession.
Could you share your future plans for expanding and developing products on the channel?
Dr. Cung: Currently, my booth has nearly 200 products. In my opinion, whether to sell many products or just one product depends on the business and the individual. It depends on one's strengths. By choosing to focus on my strength as a doctor, I hope to accompany people on their journey of proactive and comprehensive health care.
In the future, I will continue to expand my portfolio of specialized health products to meet the increasingly diverse needs of customers. In addition, I will focus on strengthening communication and marketing activities to spread the value of health to even more people.
