Up to now, the whole province has completed spring rice planting. In recent days, the weather has been continuously cold with the lowest temperature below 13 degrees Celsius; newly planted rice areas have encountered cold weather, the rice plants have shown signs of poor growth, many rice areas may have physiological root suffocation due to the cold.

100% of the spring rice area has been planted. In the photo: Farmers in Kien Xuong town plant spring rice.

Therefore, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center recommends that farmers focus on closely monitoring the weather situation, absolutely do not fertilize tillering, do not thin spring rice on cold days, the average daily temperature drops below 15 degrees Celsius. It is necessary to keep water on the field surface regularly from 3 - 4cm to nourish the rice and keep warm, for sown rice, pay attention not to let water accumulate in puddles on the field surface. When the weather is sunny, the temperature is high, farmers absolutely do not fertilize immediately because it will shock the rice plants. Foliar fertilizer can be used to stimulate plant growth. Check when the rice roots turn green, new leaves sprout, then fertilize the rice for tillering. Regularly check the field to detect pests such as golden apple snails, rice blast disease... to have timely treatment measures.
