She is currently working hard in rehearsals to complete the play in time for the International Experimental Theatre Festival in Ninh Binh in November 2025.
Tuyết Thu returns to historical drama.
"The Queen of Two Kings" is one of the very famous experimental scripts by playwright Le Duy Hanh.
Director Le Nguyen Dat stated that the original script by author Le Duy Hanh was a stage play.
This time, the play was edited by Dr. Le Hoang Long (son of the late playwright Le Duy Hanh) to suit the times, emphasizing Duong Van Nga's role in the nation's affairs more than her deep love for the two kings.
"This is also the first time this script has been adapted into a full play, so Tuyet Thu and I had to think hard to make the play have depth, fully portraying the inner feelings of a woman facing the turmoil of the country, carefully considering her options to make the most correct decision," Le Nguyen Dat shared with Tuoi Tre newspaper.
Although she graduated from the Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) training class of the Stage Arts School II (now the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Film), Tuyet Thu has taken many different paths, from dancer to stage and film artist.
However, cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) remains a strong passion within her. In 2021, when participating in the National Drama Festival with the play "Crying in the Blue Sky ," Thu surprised everyone with her outstanding performance as Empress Vân Dung and won the individual gold medal.
It is her background in cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) that has helped her portray historical and period roles so convincingly. With Sơn Hà ( Mountains and Rivers), viewers are once again anticipating Tuyết Thu's brilliance.
