Pioneering in the circular economy
Through in-depth evaluation rounds from a prestigious Jury, Unilever Vietnam won this title thanks to its efforts and pioneering role in initiating and promoting the circular economy model in Plastic Waste Management.
Specifically, since 2020, Unilever Vietnam has cooperated with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and two partners Dow and SCGC to launch the Public-Private Partnership (PPC), marking the first time a cooperation agreement on building a circular economy in Plastic Waste Management has been signed between the Public and Private sectors, focusing on sorting, collecting and recycling plastic waste.
The purpose of the cooperation is to create a combined strength through the guidelines, policies and instructions of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, combined with the accompanying role of businesses to solve the problem of plastic waste.
After nearly 3 years since the establishment of PPC, the private sector has had the opportunity to gain an understanding of the plastic waste situation in Vietnam, cooperate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment , Women's Union, NGOs, businesses... to implement many specific action programs and welcome more members to join PPC - with a total of 30 members currently - to join hands to promote a better plastic circulation.
Earlier this year, Unilever Vietnam also cooperated with Duy Tan recycling to aim to collect and recycle 30,000 tons of plastic waste by 2027, once again affirming the company's long-term commitment to promoting a circular economy model for plastics in Vietnam.
Long-term commitment to Vietnam's sustainable development
Previously, Unilever Vietnam also received the honorary award "50th Anniversary Recognition Award" in the program "The Great Awards" presented by the British Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (BritCham) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United Kingdom.
This award recognizes the significant contributions to the business environment in Vietnam and the long-term commitment of Unilever and its brands to the country's sustainable development, the consistency in strategies, actions and practical values that the British FDI enterprise has always pursued and implemented during its 28 years of presence in Vietnam.
This award once again affirms Unilever's pioneering role in improving the health of the planet, improving hygiene and health for people, and contributing to building a more equitable and socially inclusive world.
During nearly three decades of presence in Vietnam, Unilever has proposed and implemented a series of commitments and actions through cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to combat climate change with a program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect and regenerate nature through a commitment to plant 1 million trees by 2025, as well as preserve resources and solve plastic waste pollution for future generations through goals and actions on developing sustainable packaging and collecting and recycling plastic waste.

It can be seen that Unilever's environmental protection efforts in Vietnam have contributed to further promoting close cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and the UK on global issues such as climate change - typically the milestone of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to COP26 in Glasgow last year with a commitment for Vietnam to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
Unilever brands – typically Lifebuoy, P/S, Vim, OMO, Knorr, Pureit… have also helped improve the health of millions of Vietnamese people with cooperation programs with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education & Training to communicate and educate about personal hygiene and oral care, building green-clean-healthy habits for children across the country through upgrading school sanitation equipment and electronic lesson plans to educate children about proper personal hygiene habits.
In addition to providing knowledge and products for personal care, home and nutrition, Unilever brands are also joining hands to build a more inclusive society in Vietnam by supporting women to improve hygiene and health conditions for themselves and their families, providing business knowledge and financial support for women's start-up projects through cooperation with the Vietnam Women's Union and the "Vietnamese Women Confident in Doing Business" program of the Sunlight brand.
