Phong Hoa is a Heroic Commune of the People's Armed Forces, a base of operations for many renowned revolutionary pioneers, and a strategically important transportation and communication hub throughout the resistance wars. The commune was one of the few localities to establish a Party branch earliest in 1929, being one of the first branches of the Annam Communist Party in O Mon district and one of the first branches in Can Tho province (now Phong Hoa commune in Dong Thap province).
In Can Tho, following the 1930 conference unifying Party organizations into the Communist Party of Vietnam , the Phong Hoa branch of the An Nam Communist Party was transformed into a branch of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The establishment of the Phong Hoa branch was a momentous political event for the locality, with significant meaning and influence within the commune and the entire Southwestern region of Vietnam.
At the seminar, experts and historical researchers presented papers clarifying several issues through historical documents related to the founding of the An Nam Communist Party branch in Phong Hoa; the historical role and influence of the Phong Hoa Party branch on the revolutionary movement in the locality and the region; the imprint of Comrade Ha Huy Giap on the Phong Hoa Party branch; and the preservation and promotion of the historical site where the An Nam Communist Party branch was founded in Phong Hoa…
Comrade Nguyen Thi Bich Thuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Phong Hoa commune, assessed: Experts and researchers have explored and discovered new values; collected more documents to further affirm the historical role of the Phong Hoa Party Branch, remember and be grateful to the revolutionary predecessors, strengthen faith in the Party's leadership, and strive to build the commune worthy of its tradition as a heroic commune.
From there, it further fueled the Phong Hoa Party Committee's determination in the work of disseminating and popularizing the local revolutionary history and traditions, educating patriotism and love for the country, and the revolutionary traditions of the people of Phong Hoa in particular and Dong Thap in general, arousing a sense of responsibility, and continuing to strive to build an increasingly prosperous homeland.
"The Party Committee of Phong Hoa commune will continue to cooperate, be receptive, and accept the useful and appropriate proposals and solutions presented and contributed by delegates, scientists, and researchers so that the commune can have more appropriate and effective guiding directions in the future," affirmed Comrade Nguyen Thi Bich Thuan.
