Trial operation of Noi Bai T2 Passenger Terminal before putting into operation from December 19

Noi Bai International Airport is testing the Noi Bai T2 Passenger Terminal before officially putting it into operation from December 19.

Noi Bai International Airport has just announced that after more than 18 months of construction, the T2 Passenger Terminal Expansion Project has basically been completed, expected to be inaugurated and put into operation from December 19, increasing the design capacity from 10 to 15 million passengers/year.

The project was implemented in the context of the existing terminal being overloaded. In just 11 months of 2025, Noi Bai International Airport served nearly 13 million passengers. The units have made great efforts to ensure the progress so that the project can be completed on time.

After the expansion, the total floor area increased to more than 200,000m², many items were added such as 6 check-in islands with 144 counters, including 24 self-luggage counters; 24 automatic check-in kiosks; 3 security screening areas; 30 aircraft gates and 8 baggage conveyor belts.

The terminal is also equipped with synchronous automation equipment, including 3D screening machines, body scanners, and automatic gate systems (Autogate), aiming towards a "smart airport" model.

Along with the green design and new amenities for passengers, the trial run from December 4 to 6 showed that the operating line was running smoothly, ready for handover and operation.
