After a period affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Da Nang City is once again attracting tens of thousands of tourists from South Korea. Among them, the Korean Market has become a favorite destination for many South Korean tourists to visit, explore, and shop.
Han Market is located at 119 Tran Phu Street (Hai Chau 1 Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City). The market has two floors with a total area of approximately 28,000 m2. Each floor is divided into several different sections to provide convenience for visitors.
A group of South Korean tourists line up, preparing to enter a Korean market for sightseeing and shopping.
Every day, Han market welcomes about 10,000 people, besides local people, international tourists from Korea are said to be the most crowded.
On the first floor, there are sections for processed foods and grains; incense and fruits; specialty fish sauces; fresh food; dried food and spices; bamboo and textile handicrafts; fishing nets, aluminum and plastic products. Korean tourists particularly enjoy dried foods such as dried jackfruit and dried squid.
On the second floor are sections for clothing, cosmetics, tailoring, fabrics, shoes, bags, and bedding. Ms. Ly Luu (a clothing vendor) shared: "The Korean Market is very popular with Korean tourists. They often look for breathable clothes, especially those with beach-themed designs."
According to vendors, depending on the time of year, Han Market attracts a large number of Korean tourists. In particular, the market becomes packed with Korean visitors when tour buses drop off their passengers. At times, Han Market is almost overcrowded, with tourists having to jostle to move around.
Many tourists come to buy inexpensive shoes and bags.
After being renovated and upgraded on September 6, 2022, Han Market has been given a new look, becoming cleaner and more spacious. In particular, reasonable prices and the absence of price gouging, thanks to a monitoring and customer feedback system, have made Han Market a popular shopping destination for souvenirs and local products for both domestic and international tourists.

Handcrafted souvenirs attract Korean tourists who come to learn about and purchase them.
Besides South Korea, the Korean market also attracts many tourists from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, China, and other countries. The vendors at the Korean market can communicate in multiple languages, making shopping very convenient for tourists.
"Because of the nature of the work, every vendor here has to know multiple languages. We often joke... working here, we've been awarded foreign language degrees from the 'university' of Han Market," said Ms. Ngoc Trang (a vendor selling dried food).
Through the development of flights from South Korea to Da Nang, effective promotion of the destination's image, and various tourism stimulus policies, the coastal city of Da Nang has become a popular choice for many South Korean tourists.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in the first four months of 2023, South Korea had the highest number of visitors to Vietnam, exceeding 1 million, followed by the United States (263,000), and China rising to third place (252,000).
