Many banks report huge profits.
Most recently, Military Bank (MB) reported that by the end of September 2025, its consolidated total assets reached VND 1,329 trillion, an increase of 17.7% compared to the beginning of the year, placing it among the banks with the highest growth rate in the system.
Outstanding credit and bond investments by economic organizations increased by 18.6%, with outstanding loans to priority sectors such as small and medium-sized enterprises and retail increasing by double digits to proactively supply capital to the economy, especially in the production, consumption, and infrastructure investment sectors.
These factors helped MB achieve pre-tax profits of over VND 23,100 billion, a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. The consolidated non-performing loan ratio was only 1.87%, a decrease of 0.36% compared to the same period last year.
According to statistics from the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper , a number of commercial banks have announced their business results for the first nine months of the year, including MB, ACB, Agribank, SHB, Techcombank, VPBank, Kienlongbank, NCB, Nam A Bank, LPBank, etc.
The banking sector's business performance so far remains strong, with high credit growth and a surge in service revenue, while the increase in CASA (current account deposits) ratios has helped reduce banks' input costs.
Notably, many banks reported double-digit profit growth, with some even reporting their highest Q3/2025 profits or highest nine-month profits in their operating history.

Techcombank (Vietnam Technological and Commercial Bank) announced that its pre-tax profit for the first nine months reached VND 23,400 billion, and for the third quarter of 2025 alone, it reached VND 8,300 billion, a 14.4% increase compared to the same period last year – the bank's highest quarterly profit ever. Techcombank's profit stemmed from strong growth in interest income, service fees, and foreign exchange trading.
According to Techcombank's CEO, Jens Lottner, this positive result was driven by strong credit demand, coupled with a "customer-centric" strategy and the growth momentum of the Vietnamese economy. The initial public offering (IPO) of Techcombank Securities (TCX), with subscriptions exceeding the offered amount, is a historic milestone for Techcombank and the Vietnamese capital market.
Highest profits over the years
At Loc Phat Vietnam Bank (LPBank), in the first nine months of 2025, the bank achieved a pre-tax profit of over VND 9,600 billion, which is also the highest level in its operating history.
LPBank's record-high profit was driven by pre-tax profit of VND 3,448 billion in the third quarter, a 15.3% increase compared to the previous quarter, thanks to stable net interest income and a significant increase in non-interest income.

Smaller banks also exceeded their full-year profit targets or achieved triple-digit profit growth. For example, National Commercial Bank (NCB) recorded positive business performance in the third quarter, with estimated net interest income reaching over VND 685 billion, a 150% increase; and income from service activities increasing by as much as 370% compared to the same period last year. At the end of the third quarter, NCB's after-tax profit for the quarter was estimated at nearly VND 190 billion.
"For the first nine months of the year, NCB's after-tax profit is estimated at over 652 billion VND, marking a clear and strong turnaround compared to the negative results of the same period in 2024. Compared to the plan for the whole year, NCB has officially reached and exceeded its business plan after only nine months," said a representative of the bank.
Similarly, Kienlongbank also saw triple-digit profit growth. The bank reported consolidated after-tax profit of VND 491.8 billion in the third quarter, an increase of over 194% compared to the same period last year.
For the first nine months of the year, the bank's consolidated after-tax profit exceeded VND 1,128 billion, an increase of over 102% compared to the same period last year. This increase stems from factors such as expanding non-credit services, developing a comprehensive digital ecosystem combined with cost control, and strengthening risk management.
