Vietnam values ​​relations and promotes multifaceted cooperation with Chile

The two sides pay special attention to promoting trade and investment cooperation commensurate with the potential and needs of both sides, taking advantage of the CPTPP Agreement, and increasing access to each other's markets.

According to the VNA Special Envoy, on July 7 (local time), on the occasion of attending the BRICS Expanded Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam values ​​its relationship with and promotes multifaceted cooperation with Chile, one of the leading countries in solidarity with and supporting Vietnam in its struggle for the liberation of the South and national reunification, and which established diplomatic relations with Vietnam as early as 1971.

The Prime Minister respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to President Gabriel Boric Font.

For his part, President Gabriel Boric Font affirmed that Vietnam has always been a close friend and a leading important partner of Chile in Southeast Asia, with a traditional friendship founded by President Ho Chi Minh and the late Chilean President Salvador Allende, and nurtured over many generations.

Both sides highly appreciated the official visit of President Luong Cuong to Chile (November 2024), which contributed to further deepening the Vietnam-Chile Comprehensive Partnership.

The two leaders agreed to direct relevant ministries and agencies of both countries to continue to concretize the results achieved during President Luong Cuong's visit, with particular emphasis on promoting trade and investment cooperation commensurate with the potential and needs of both sides, taking advantage of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP), and enhancing access to each other's markets.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that Chile create favorable conditions and implement specific policies to enable Vietnamese businesses to cooperate and invest effectively in Chile, contributing to the socio-economic development of Chile.

Sharing the proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font expressed his desire for the two countries to also strengthen cooperation in culture, arts, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed President Luong Cuong's invitation to the President of Chile to visit Vietnam and attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi in October 2025.
