Vietnam was re-elected as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term, with 180 votes in favor, the highest among candidates representing the Asia-Pacific region.

On October 14, 2025, New York time (midnight October 14, Hanoi time), at the United Nations headquarters, the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly elected the members of the Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term.

Among them, Vietnam was re-elected to this position with 180 votes, the highest number among the candidates representing the Asia -Pacific region.
