Vietnam Airlines Group offers more than 3.5 million seats, up nearly 20%
On September 3, Vietnam Airlines Group announced the sale of more than 3.5 million seats for the peak period of Tet 2026, from February 2 to March 3, 2026 (December 15 to January 15 of the lunar calendar). This is the first sale based on the approved flight schedule, the number of seats increased by nearly 20% compared to the same period last year.
Flight routes continue to be prioritized for increased capacity: Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City increased by nearly 18%, Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang increased by nearly 9%, Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Hue routes increased by 9 - 13%.
At the same time, the airline also promotes international flights to Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, etc. to meet the demand for foreign travel during Tet.
Notably, Vietnam Airlines has arranged more early morning and late evening flights, accounting for nearly 20% of total flights during Tet, to reduce daytime pressure and increase flexible options for passengers.
Previously, on August 29, Vietjet was the first airline to announce the opening of ticket sales for Tet 2026 with about 2.5 million tickets, from February 3 to March 2, 2026.
The ticket prices announced by Vietjet are quite competitive. From Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc is only 610,000 VND/trip (excluding taxes and fees); flights to Da Nang, Nha Trang, Buon Ma Thuot from 1 million VND; flights to Hanoi, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong from 1.6 million VND. In the opposite direction, many flights have prices from 0 VND (excluding taxes and fees), to stimulate spring travel demand.
Not only covering its domestic flight network, Vietjet also opens Tet ticket sales for international routes to Australia, India, Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia.
With a total of more than 6 million seats announced by the two major airlines, the 2026 Tet market is expected to be very exciting. While Vietnam Airlines Group focuses on increasing capacity, opening night slots and ensuring service quality, Vietjet "scores" with competitive prices and many international destination options.
Both airlines recommend that passengers proactively book tickets early to avoid "ticket fever" near Tet, and note to buy through the website, mobile application or official agent to avoid fake tickets or inflated tickets.
Currently, Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines have not announced plans to open ticket sales for Tet.
