On October 7th, Mr. Le Minh Tien, Head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department (Quang Tri Department of Health ), announced that test results from the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang confirmed that one of the four food samples at Kim Thuy Ethnic Boarding Primary School (Kim Ngan commune) tested positive for Bacillus cereus bacteria.

This type of bacteria is commonly found in soil, dust, water, and cooked food that has been left out for too long, and can cause vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain.
Previously, as reported by SGGP, on the morning of September 26th, after eating breakfast consisting of allegedly spoiled rice cakes, 40 students from the school were simultaneously hospitalized with symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, and convulsions. They were treated at Le Thuy Regional General Hospital and were discharged after receiving intravenous fluids and antibiotics.
The incident sparked public outrage when a video surfaced showing Deputy Principal Do Thi Hong Hue , who is in charge of the school's canteen, allegedly preventing students from being taken to the hospital.
On October 2nd, the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune issued a decision to temporarily suspend Ms. Hue from her duties for 15 days.
