On October 7, Mr. Le Minh Tien, Head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Department (Quang Tri Department of Health ), said that test results from the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang determined that 1 out of 4 food samples at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School (Kim Ngan commune) was positive for Bacillus cereus bacteria.

This is a type of bacteria commonly found in soil, dust, water and cooked food that has been left out for a long time and can cause vomiting, nausea and abdominal pain.
Previously, as SGGP reported, on the morning of September 26, after having breakfast of spoiled banh tay, 40 students of the school were hospitalized in a state of vomiting, diarrhea, and convulsions. They were treated at Le Thuy Regional General Hospital and were discharged after receiving IV fluids and antibiotics.
The incident caused public outrage when a clip appeared showing Vice Principal Do Thi Hong Hue , who is in charge of the school's canteen, being accused of preventing students from being taken to the hospital.
On October 2, the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune decided to temporarily suspend Ms. Hue from work for 15 days.
