The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has just issued Decision No. 215/QD-UBND approving the project "Improving clean water, personal hygiene and environmental conditions in the Huong Hoa region" in 6 communes: Huong Tan, Huong Linh, Huong Phung, Huong Son, Huong Viet, and Huong Lap, funded by World Vision International (WVI).
With a grant of USD 46,920, equivalent to over VND 1.14 billion, and an implementation period until the end of September 2025, the project aims to improve the conditions for clean water supply, personal hygiene, and environmental protection to prevent infectious diseases in six communes: Huong Tan, Huong Linh, Huong Phung, Huong Son, Huong Viet, and Huong Lap, under the regional program of Huong Hoa district (Quang Tri province).

The main components and activities of the project include: Training for the Water and Sanitation Management Board on water source protection, water treatment, promoting community resources, and encouraging toilet construction, operation, maintenance, etc.
In addition, there are: communicating to the community about clean water and sanitation; testing the input and output of water sources for the systems; supporting community water systems; conducting workshops and national-level monitoring activities.
Huong Hoa is a mountainous border district located in the western part of Quang Tri province, comprising 19 communes and 2 towns, with 149 villages, hamlets, and residential areas; of which, 97 villages and hamlets benefit from the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Ethnic minorities account for nearly 50% of the district's population, with three ethnic groups – Kinh, Van Kieu, and Pa Ko – living together.
The implementation of the project "Improving Clean Water, Personal Sanitation, and Environmental Conditions in the Huong Hoa Region Program" fulfills the long-standing aspirations of the local people. Through this, the project gradually improves the lives of the people in the villages and hamlets, not only promoting economic development but also contributing to changing the living habits of the local people in the six mountainous communes.
