The flood situation is complicated and unpredictable. Around noon on October 27, despite having moved all the furniture in his house to a higher place, Mr. Tran Quoc Cuong (Kieu Chau village, Duy Xuyen commune) still couldn't help but worry. "It's still raining heavily, floodwaters are flowing across the road. The water is rising faster than usual, and there are no signs of stopping from morning until now," Mr. Cuong shared.
The biggest worry of Mr. Cuong and many other households is that if the heavy rain continues on the night of October 27 and water from upstream flows in, they will no longer have the strength to move their belongings further up.
National Highway 14H, an important route, currently has many sections deeply flooded with dangerously fast-flowing water. Faced with the emergency, the Duy Xuyen commune authorities quickly deployed forces to put up warning signs, resolutely prohibiting all vehicles from passing through flooded areas.
Authorities diverted heavy trucks to other routes to ensure safety. According to Mr. Pham Van Quy, a member of the Security and Order Protection Team in Duy Xuyen Commune, this was mandatory to prevent unfortunate incidents.
Many vehicles transporting tourists to My Son Temple Complex were forced to turn around and cancel tours to ensure absolute safety for visitors. Traffic disruption caused tourism activities in My Son to stagnate.
Duy Xuyen Commune authorities informed that continuous heavy rains caused floodwaters on rivers to rise suddenly. National Highway 14H passing through the commune currently has two deep flooded spots, many residential areas are completely cut off.
Mr. Dang Huu Phuc, Chairman of Duy Xuyen Commune People's Committee, said that the government has issued an urgent warning, asking people not to travel on the streets; at the same time, focus on transporting necessary items to high, safe areas.
By late afternoon on October 27, floodwaters continued to rise rapidly, and the situation is forecast to become more complicated during the night. People in low-lying areas are proactively moving to safe areas arranged by the authorities. Valuable vehicles such as cars are also being moved to higher ground to minimize damage.
Leaders of Duy Xuyen commune said that the locality is doing its best to respond to the flood situation, with the top priority being to protect people's lives and property.
