Building Hai Phong Station into a tourist destination

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City is implementing various solutions to develop railway tourism and transform Hai Phong Station into a tourist destination.

On the afternoon of March 19th, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a working session with the Vietnam Railway Corporation and related units to exchange ideas on supporting and developing the "Red Phoenix Flower" train product and organizing a "Delicious Food Festival" at Hai Phong Station. These activities aim to celebrate the Red Phoenix Flower Festival and commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Phong (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025).

Accordingly, in order to develop railway tourism products, Vietnam Railways Corporation plans to put 20 new carriages into operation on the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line. The carriages are designed with modern features, luxurious interiors, and will be named the "Red Phoenix Flower" train. The launch of this tourism product is expected before May 13, 2025.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City, said: In parallel with the above activities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the city will preside over the "Hai Phong Delicious Food Festival" in 2025, from May 9-14, 2025 at Hai Phong Railway Station. The event will attract over 40 food stalls featuring Hai Phong's delicious dishes, specialties from various localities in the city, and tourist souvenirs.

During the meeting, the design consulting unit presented its overall design proposal for the booths at the "Hai Phong Delicious Food Festival" and the "Red Phoenix Flower" train. Through these activities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong city hopes to promote and develop tourism in the area, especially railway tourism, and aims to build Hai Phong Station into a tourist destination.

Previously, during the Lunar New Year of 2025, train carriages on the Hanoi-Hai Phong route were decorated with spring-themed designs, adding a unique experience for tourists and becoming a new check-in spot for young people in Hai Phong.
