(Dan Tri Newspaper) - For many years, the people of Mia hamlet, Truong Xuan commune (Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province ) have formed groups to visit each household to wish them a Happy New Year throughout the night after celebrating New Year's Eve, fostering a strong sense of community and neighborly solidarity.

Recently, netizens shared a series of images showing entire neighborhoods going from house to house wishing each other a Happy New Year after midnight, attracting a large number of interactions.

The shared images show about 50 people going from house to house, raising glasses and exchanging New Year's greetings in a joyful and lively atmosphere. At each family, relatives greeted each other warmly, inquiring about business and health after a year of hard work and worries. It is known that this tradition has been preserved for decades in this residential area.

Many netizens praised the beautiful tradition. The majority of comments expressed admiration for the neighborly spirit that people showed each other on New Year's Day.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , Huy Son (from Thanh Hoa province) confirmed that the image being shared online was taken in Mia hamlet, Truong Xuan commune (Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province) when he participated in a group visiting households to offer New Year greetings.

"This tradition has been going on for over 30 years. Every year, the village chooses a 'host' family to host the gathering point. Around 1 AM on the first day of Tet (Lunar New Year), everyone gathers at the starting point to begin their journey. The oldest person is chosen as the group leader. The 'host' family prepares chicken porridge and some snacks to treat everyone," Mr. Son said.

Before New Year's Eve, information about the New Year's greetings trip was announced by the village head to the residents during the community solidarity festival and also updated through the group chat.

"Visiting all 50 households in the village usually takes 3 hours, and some years it even takes up to 6 hours. However, the team members try to shorten the time to visit all the households while still having time to rest after a sleepless night. In cases where no one has yet performed the first-footing ritual, the team sends a member whose age is compatible with the homeowner to enter first to bring good luck," Sơn further revealed.

Apart from families who have moved here from other places, the majority of households in Mia hamlet have been settled here for a long time. Therefore, the bonds of community and solidarity have been nurtured through many generations.

In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the whole village is bustling with activity as children and grandchildren return from many places to reunite with their grandparents and parents. After cleaning their houses, everyone decorates the village streets with New Year's poles, lanterns, flags, and colorful flowers. About 3-4 families share a pig to prepare food for the Tet feast. In the evening, households hold year-end parties, singing and creating a joyful atmosphere before the new year.

It is known that not only during Tet (Lunar New Year), but also on International Children's Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, March 8th, and October 20th, the people here always join hands to organize celebrations. When a family in the neighborhood has a funeral or wedding, everyone is ready to be there and lend a hand like brothers and sisters in a family.

Currently, Mr. Son lives and works in Bac Giang . However, this beautiful tradition of his hometown makes those who live far away even more eager to return and reunite with their families when Tet (Lunar New Year) comes around.

"Every year, only during Tet (Lunar New Year) do the young people in the neighborhood return to their hometowns in large numbers. Therefore, this activity strengthens community bonds. Everyone gets to meet, greet, and exchange New Year's wishes," the man expressed.
