Heartbreaking story of female student who just enrolled in school and 'said goodbye to the lecture hall' after mini apartment fire

On the afternoon of September 14, Dr. Nguyen Quy Thanh, Principal of the Universityof Education (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) said that Pham Hoang Gia Linh, a student majoring in Educational Sciences, was one of the victims of the horrific fire in Khuong Ha on September 12.

" This is a great loss for the family and the school," he said. Currently, the school's Youth Union is mobilizing kind-hearted people to join hands to support and help the family of female student Pham Hoang Gia Linh. The school visited, encouraged and shared the pain with her relatives.

Previously, because of losing contact with Gia Linh, her relatives asked the online community to share photos and information about their daughter. The school's fanpage also posted a notice "Hanoi National University student missing after mini apartment fire".

At that time, everyone prayed that Gia Linh would be safe and escape the jaws of death. However, on the evening of September 13, the family confirmed that Gia Linh did not survive the fire. At the time of the fire, she was on the 4th floor of the mini apartment building.

Also a new student who had just entered the school, Do Nguyen Thien Huong, K43 - Academy of Journalism and Propaganda, passed away forever in the mini apartment fire.

" I entered the school, and was radiant in the first days of class at my dream school, but I didn't have time to attend the opening ceremony of the new school year. A colleague texted me: "If there wasn't a fire, she would be so radiant today." I hope that somewhere, I can continue my unfinished dream," Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Truong Giang, Deputy Director of the Academy, shared on her personal page.

The fanpage of the Institute of Journalism and Academy of Journalism and Communication also posted content expressing infinite condolences to female student Thien Huong.

The lessons, conversations and first memories between us will forever be imprinted in the hearts of everyone around us. According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, as of September 14, 31 people in the education sector were victims of the fire, including 2 teachers and 29 students, of whom 13 students died. The remaining teachers and students were injured to varying degrees.

According to Hanoi Police, as of the evening of September 13, at least 56 people were killed and 37 injured in a mini apartment fire in Hanoi.
The fire was discovered at 11:50 p.m. on September 12 at a mini apartment building in Khuong Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi. There are 150 people living in an area of about 200 square meters.
