Project Esther is a prototype, but Razer's Sensa HD Haptics platform behind it is very active and ready for game developers to adopt.

In a 15-minute test with the Project Esther demo, players get to experience how the haptics react and change as objects in the game move closer and closer to the screen. The demo then switches to a forest setting, where wind and raindrops cause different sensations on the back.
The prototype was created to demonstrate the new Sensa technology, which combines what users see and hear on screen with the tactile sensations of gaming. Razer wants Sensa technology to foster a diverse ecosystem of products that people can choose from to suit their gaming style.
Any audio content can be integrated with Sensa, so whether the user is playing a game or watching a movie, as long as there is sound, Sensa can create the corresponding feeling. In the demo with the game Mortal Kombat, users can notice different haptic effects from the gaming pads for each weapon, with lasers having more of a vibration feeling, while machine guns have more recoil feedback.
If this is the future of gaming, it will provide gamers with an exciting experience that will enhance their gaming experience. While Razer is using it in cushion form, there is nothing stopping other companies from using it to create other experiences, such as the Nintendo Power Glove, to enhance the immersive gaming experience.
