Requesting Hanoi Law University to report on granting PhD degree to Venerable Thich Chan Quang

The Ministry of Education and Training has just sent an urgent letter to Hanoi Law University requesting a report on the admission and training process of doctoral candidate Vuong Tan Viet (Venerable Thich Chan Quang), which is causing a public uproar.

An urgent dispatch from the Ministry of Education and Training to Hanoi Law University states that there is currently conflicting information regarding the admission, training, and awarding of a doctoral degree to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet at Hanoi Law University. To obtain complete information, the Ministry of Education and Training requests Hanoi Law University to urgently provide a detailed report on the doctoral admission and training process (including the submission of peer review documents, thesis defense, etc.) and to provide supporting evidence for Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's application.

Previously, social media was abuzz with information circulating that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet graduated with a part-time bachelor's degree in law in 2019, but received a doctorate in law in 2021, also from Hanoi Law University.

Many have questioned the appropriateness of the time frame in which Mr. Vuong Tan Viet was awarded his doctorate degree, just two years after graduating from university.
