11 villas and houses in Thao Dien area built without permission

The Inspectorate of Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) has just announced the conclusions of its inspection regarding the management of construction order in 2021-2022 at the People's Committee of Thao Dien Ward.

Accordingly, the inspection team randomly checked archived records at the ward and verified the actual status of many constructions as reported by the Ward People's Committee, from August 1st to September 12th.

The inspection team discovered 11 unauthorized construction projects (mainly villas and houses). Of these, 7 unauthorized construction projects had been ordered by the Ward People's Committee to implement remedial measures, but these have not yet been carried out. 6 unauthorized construction projects have been completed and put into use.

Regarding illegally constructed buildings, the Thao Dien ward inspectorate discovered 16 addresses that did not conform to their construction permits. Of these, 5 buildings were completed, and at the time of inspection, only 2 addresses were still in use. In addition, 7 buildings were suspended, 2 were still under construction, and 1 building had rectified the area that violated regulations...

The inspection report concluded that the Thao Dien Ward People's Committee had not promptly reviewed and assessed the achievements, limitations, and shortcomings in order to address and resolve the problems, difficulties, and obstacles in the management of construction order.

At the same time, the ward was slow to detect illegal constructions and did not resolutely organize measures to prevent and handle them from the outset.

This has led to a number of unauthorized and illegal construction projects with large violations, completed and put into use without completing the procedures for adjusting the construction permit. Some unauthorized construction projects have increased in area and structure but have not had violation records processed.

The majority of construction projects that violate regulations have not yet implemented the enforcement decisions issued by competent state agencies to remedy the consequences of their actions.

The Inspectorate of Thu Duc City requested the People's Committee of Thao Dien Ward to conduct a review of its leadership and management of the aforementioned related tasks, and to coordinate with relevant units to assign responsibilities in handling violations.

Thao Dien Ward (formerly District 2, now Thu Duc City) has a total natural area of 375.8 hectares, divided into 6 neighborhoods, comprising 61 residential groups, 11,278 households with nearly 30,000 inhabitants (including more than 23,000 Vietnamese and more than 6,000 foreigners living and working there).

The ward has many high-rise apartment buildings, luxury apartments, and upscale residential areas, as well as many housing projects for foreigners to rent.
