Today, February 11, the People's Committee of Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province, in coordination with the National Timber Company Limited - Quang Tri Branch, organized a stakeholder consultation program on the FSC-linked sustainable forest management system in Cam Lo district.

At the conference, delegates listened to the consultant report on the results of implementing the sustainable forest management plan and FSC certification in Cam Lo district in the past time. Accordingly, after nearly a year of implementation, the consultant and the National Timber Company Limited - Quang Tri Branch have closely coordinated with the People's Committee of Cam Lo district, the communes of Cam Thanh, Cam Chinh, Cam Nghia, Cam Tuyen and Cam Hieu to establish representative boards of household groups; survey and investigate construction, build maps by users and a list of forest owners who meet the standards to participate in FSC; hold commune and village meetings to disseminate the benefits of participating in FSC afforestation; carry out a review of the current status of forests... Up to now, 2,018 hectares of forest of 557 households in the above communes have had their dossiers completed by the consulting unit to meet the conditions for assessment and recognition of FSC certification.
Based on the initial results, the consultant and the National Wood Company Limited - Quang Tri Branch proposed a number of solutions to the District People's Committee, the representative board of household groups, professional agencies and the Party Committees and authorities of the communes to gradually remove some difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process.
Strengthen propaganda to enhance the role and responsibility of Party committees, authorities and people, actively coordinate and facilitate consultants to complete the next steps, in order to soon grant FSC certification for the above forest area.
