On October 10, Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV) held a conference to launch the bidding package "Providing consulting services for management and operation of Long Thanh International Airport".
This is an important step to ensure Long Thanh airport operates smoothly and safely from the moment it opens, while enhancing the competitiveness and sustainable development of this important airport.
ACV signed a contract with the Consortium of Incheon Airport (Korea) and PMI Consulting Services Joint Stock Company (Vietnam) at the end of August.
Incheon Airport Group is known as one of the world's leading units in airport management and operation consulting, with many outstanding projects globally. PMI is a construction consulting unit with many years of experience in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung - Deputy General Director of ACV - emphasized that the launch of the bidding package is an important milestone in cooperation with consultants to ensure that Long Thanh International Airport is put into operation on schedule, safely and effectively.
The Incheon Airport consortium will carry out three main tasks: developing a concept of operations (ConOps) and supporting the implementation of processes; advising on the development of commercial policies and financial strategies; and piloting ConOps and transferring operations.
Mr. Hung assessed that this cooperation will help Long Thanh International Airport reach international standards, ensure safety, be on schedule and meet the goal of becoming an important air transit hub in the ASEAN region and Asia.
Long Thanh International Airport project is a key national project, planned to meet the 4F standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
When all three phases are completed, the port will reach a capacity of 100 million passengers/year and 5 million tons of cargo/year.
Phase 1 will build a runway and passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year. This airport project is simultaneously constructing 4 major packages including: passenger terminal, runway, two connecting traffic routes and air traffic control tower.
Currently, the contractor has mobilized more than 8,000 workers and construction machinery to the site day and night, ensuring the progress of all packages. According to the plan, on September 2, 2026, Long Thanh will welcome the first commercial flight.
