On October 10th, the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) held a conference to launch the bidding package for "Providing consulting services for the management and operation of Long Thanh International Airport".

This is a crucial step to ensure the smooth and safe operation of Long Thanh Airport from the moment it opens, while also enhancing its competitiveness and promoting sustainable development.

ACV signed a contract with the Incheon Airport Joint Venture (South Korea) and PMI Consulting Services Joint Stock Company (Vietnam) at the end of August.

Incheon Airport Group is known as one of the world's leading companies in airport management and operation consulting, with many outstanding projects globally. PMI is a construction consulting firm with many years of experience in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung, Deputy General Director of ACV, emphasized that the launch of the bidding package is an important milestone in the cooperation with consultants to ensure that Long Thanh International Airport is put into operation on schedule, safely and efficiently.

The Incheon Airport consortium will undertake three main tasks: developing the ConOps concept and supporting the implementation of processes; advising on the development of commercial policies and financial strategies; and conducting ConOps pilot testing and operational handover.

Mr. Hung assessed that this cooperation will help Long Thanh International Airport meet international standards, ensure safety, adhere to the schedule, and achieve the goal of becoming an important air transit hub in the ASEAN and Asian regions.

The Long Thanh International Airport project is a key national project, planned to meet the 4F standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Upon completion of all three phases, the port will reach a capacity of 100 million passengers per year and 5 million tons of cargo per year.

Phase 1 will involve the construction of a runway and passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year. The airport project is currently under simultaneous construction across four major packages: the passenger terminal, the runway, two connecting transportation routes, and the air traffic control tower.

Currently, the contractor has mobilized more than 8,000 workers and machinery to the construction site, working day and night, and the progress of all contract packages is on schedule. According to the plan, Long Thanh will welcome its first commercial flight on September 2, 2026.
