Ms. Harris officially has a new "title", the Democratic Party "enjoys" an optimistic atmosphere inspired by hope

After the official voting results took place on the evening of August 20 (morning of August 21, Hanoi time), the Democratic National Convention (DNC) approved US Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's candidate for the race to the White House on November 5.

The vote took place at the United Center , where Ms Harris, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, as well as several senior Democratic officials, spoke earlier.

Mr Biden's home state of Delaware was the first to express support for Ms Harris' candidacy.

According to the US news program PBS News , this vote is called a "celebratory roll call" to nominate Ms. Harris, making up for the online vote of about 4,700 delegates earlier this month to choose the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party.

Earlier, on the evening of August 19, the DNC officially opened in Chicago, Illinois, in the Midwest of the United States. At the opening session, President Joe Biden solidified the Democratic nomination for Vice President Kamala Harris by officially "passing the torch" to her in the race for the White House.

In his speech, the leader called on Democrats to unite behind his vice president, who is poised to become the first black and South Asian female president in US history.

After Mr. Biden finished his speech, Ms. Harris walked onto the stage and hugged the President she had worked with for the past 3 1/2 years, sending a strong message of unity within the Democratic Party.

Harris enters the August 19-22 DNC convention in a relatively comfortable mood. Her campaign has broken fundraising records, attracted a large crowd at rallies and turned opinion polls in several battleground states into Democrats’ favor.

Many delegates of this party commented that in the US, a generational transition is taking place when people want to move forward and candidate Harris will be "a representative of the future, of the new generation of leaders".

Most delegates attending the DNC opening session expressed absolute confidence in Ms. Harris's ability to win against Mr. Donald Trump, her Republican opponent in the general election this November.

“This is a unity convention... It’s been amazing. Everywhere you go, people have smiles on their faces because they know we got the right guy,” said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-Calif., adding that he was “proud” that President Biden did “the right thing.”
