On September 10th, amidst the atmosphere of the first days of the new school year, the North Central Region Representative Office of the Education and Training Newspaper donated 372 sets of uniforms to all students of My Ly 1 Ethnic Boarding Primary School (My Ly commune, Nghe An province ).

In late July, heavy and prolonged rainfall caused by Typhoon Wipha triggered a devastating flash flood, destroying many villages in My Ly commune, one of the most impoverished border communes in Nghe An province.

According to statistics, the floods caused 219 houses in My Ly to collapse, be buried, or be completely swept away. All the property and crops accumulated over the years were also swept away by the raging waters, making the already difficult lives of the people even more challenging.

Natural disasters not only destroy homes but also severely impact the future of children. My Ly 1 Ethnic Boarding Primary School, where 372 students, children of the Thai, Mong, and Khmu ethnic groups, study and live, is a prime example.

Among them, many children come from families that suffered heavy losses. Their homes, belongings, and even the few clothes and school supplies they had for the new school year were swept away by the floodwaters.

Despite struggling with countless difficulties after the natural disaster, parents still strive to encourage their children to go to school. However, as the new school year begins, the lack of resources remains evident on the children's journey to literacy.

Understanding and sharing these difficulties, under the direction of the Editorial Board of the Education and Training Newspaper, the newspaper's representative office in the North Central region connected with and mobilized philanthropists and readers to join hands in donating uniforms for the children.

Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Nguyen Van Dung, Head of the Education and Training Newspaper's representative office in the North Central region, emotionally shared: "Upon hearing about the severe damage suffered by the people and students of My Ly, we were deeply concerned. With a spirit of mutual support, we quickly called for and connected generous hearts."

Today's gift may be small in material value, but it contains the affection and sharing of philanthropists and readers of the Education and Training Newspaper. These new uniforms will help the children feel more confident and happy when going to school, and focus on their studies so that they can become useful citizens for their homeland and country in the future.

Journalist Nguyen Van Dung also expressed his hope that, in the future, agencies, organizations, and philanthropists nationwide will continue to pay attention to and support students and schools in My Ly in particular, as well as other disadvantaged areas of Nghe An in general. This will help students have better learning conditions, ensuring that no child is left behind.
