On January 17th, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Tan Chau Town Police ( An Giang province ) announced that they had served a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspect, and temporarily detain Nguyen Thanh Son (commonly known as "Te Thien", 34 years old, residing in Tan Thanh commune, Tan Chau town, An Giang province) for investigation into the act of theft.
The suspect, Nguyen Thanh Son, listens as the police read out the indictment and order for his temporary detention.
According to initial investigations, at approximately 2:40 AM on January 13th, the Criminal Police force of Tan Chau Town Police, in coordination with local police, was patrolling and maintaining security and order. Upon arriving at Tan An Market (in Tan Chau commune, An Giang province), the authorities spotted Nguyen Thanh Son riding a motorbike with license plate 67L2-4741 exhibiting suspicious behavior, so they stopped him for inspection.
Upon inspection, the police discovered and seized from Son 17 mobile phones of various types, worth approximately 25 million VND, over 5 million VND in cash, and a razor blade.
Son confessed that he stole the phone by breaking into a house late at night. The razor blade he carried was used to cut through mosquito nets to steal the phone and other valuables.

According to the Tan Chau Town Police, from mid-November 2023 to the present, Son has committed a series of mobile phone thefts in various areas of An Giang province. Son has two previous convictions for theft and, having recently been released from prison, continued his thieving activities.
