The Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has just signed a decision to fine Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital 439.6 million VND for two environmental violations.
Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital committed two violations. The first violation involved discharging wastewater exceeding technical standards by 3 to less than 5 times in cases where the wastewater volume ranged from 200 m3/day (24 hours) to less than 400 m3/day.
Specifically, the ammonia parameter is 37.14 mg/l, exceeding QCVN 28:2010/BTNMT by 3.7 times, based on data collected on October 25, 2023, with a flow rate of 399 m3 per day, column B.

This hospital also failed to properly and fully implement wastewater monitoring (in 2022, the hospital conducted wastewater monitoring lacking the required parameters such as As, Hg, Pb, Cd, Fe, and surfactants).
In addition to the aforementioned fine, Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital is required to renovate and rectify its wastewater treatment system to ensure that the wastewater discharged into the environment meets the permitted standards.
Report on the renovation and remediation of the wastewater treatment system and submit the report on the trial operation plan of the wastewater treatment plant to the Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment before December 31, 2023.
