Hai Phong Lung Hospital: 70 years of construction, development and affirmation of leading specialty position

(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of May 17, Hai Phong Lung Hospital held a ceremony to celebrate its 70th anniversary (May 18, 1955 – May 18, 2025). Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Central Lung Hospital; leaders of the Hai Phong Department of Health, agencies, departments, organizations, and a large number of cadres, civil servants, and employees of the Hospital through the ages.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Vu Ngoc Truong, Director of Hai Phong Lung Hospital, expressed his deep gratitude to generations of medical staff who have devoted themselves to the cause of taking care of people's health over the past 70 years. At the same time, he expressed his sincere thanks to the attention, leadership and support of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Department of Health, National Tuberculosis Control Program and other units and organizations inside and outside the industry.

Established on May 18, 1955 with the original name of Cau Niem Hospital, Hai Phong Lung Hospital has gone through a long journey of development and growth. Through each stage, the hospital has continuously invested in upgrading its facilities, improving its professional capacity and perfecting its organizational structure. Currently, Hai Phong Lung Hospital is a Grade II specialized hospital under the city, with a scale of 250 beds and a team of 234 officers and employees. The hospital plays a leading role in the field of tuberculosis and lung disease prevention and control in Hai Phong. In recent years, the hospital has promoted innovation and applied many specialized techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases such as bronchoscopy, transthoracic biopsy, diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer... At the same time, the facilities have also been invested in modernly, meeting the criteria of "green - clean - beautiful hospital", aiming to improve service quality and patient satisfaction.

Hai Phong Lung Hospital is also a pioneer in digital transformation, actively applying information technology in medical examination, treatment and management. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hospital quickly established a separate treatment area, receiving and treating thousands of cases. At the same time, many medical teams and doctors from the Hospital were sent to support localities with strong outbreaks such as Bac Giang , Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh...
