The voting program "Attractive tourist destinations of Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2024" with the theme "Elevating destinations - Connecting journeys" is a key content of the Plan for cooperation in tourism development of Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2024, directed by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committees of 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta to direct the Department of Tourism, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of 14 localities in coordination with relevant units to implement.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism , the program hopes to contribute to preserving and promoting traditional culture and unique identities to promote and introduce destinations of Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, thereby linking to build typical products that are suitable to market demand and orienting the development of tourism products linked to domestic and foreign tourists.
Through the program, the organizers expect to create strong motivation, promote businesses and service providers towards improving service quality and cultural values, contributing to diversifying and increasing the competitiveness of tourism products and services of Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta; creating conditions for businesses exploiting destinations to promote and communicate tourism products and services, connecting with travel agencies to build tourism programs to serve tourists in order to extend the length of stay and increase spending of tourists to Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta...

In addition, the Organizing Committee wishes to build the voting program "Attractive tourist destinations of Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta" to become a quality brand of the cooperation and linkage activities for tourism development in Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
The voting program was launched in April 2024 in Ben Tre. Up to now, 126 tourist destinations have registered to participate in the voting program.
In particular, Ho Chi Minh City alone has 24 destinations participating in the vote, including: Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, Ao Dai Museum, Noi Do Wharf - Nhieu Loc Boat, Binh Tay Market, Ben Thanh Market, Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area, Community tourism site in Thieng Lieng Hamlet...
This voting journey will be deployed, spread and create communication effects to the community and tourism ecosystem with 4 stages.
Phase 1 (April-July 2024): organize the launch, propaganda, and promotion of candidates' participation and conduct voting.
Phase 2 (July-September 2024): Evaluate and pre-qualify eligible tourist destinations and complete voting page data.
Phase 3 (from September to October 2024): organize voting and satellite activities, respond to the voting program.
Phase 4 (November 2024): selection and organization of Gala to announce results, award logos, certificates, honorary titles and combine promotion and communication about voting results.
