VHO - On May 29, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Document No. 2389/BVHTTDL-DSVH to the People's Committee of Hue City agreeing to establish a Scientific Council to assess the status and propose a plan to preserve and restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty Throne.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed to establish a Scientific Council to assess the status and propose a plan to preserve and restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty Throne, established by the Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee.
This is based on Clause 4, Article 55 of the 2001 Law on Cultural Heritage which stipulates: "People's Committees at all levels, within the scope of their tasks and powers, shall carry out state management of cultural heritage in the locality according to the Government 's decentralization."
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed a leader of the Hue City People's Committee to take the position of Chairman of the Council; the other members of the Council and the Ministry agreed on the list of proposals from Hue.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also appointed three more members of the Council, including: Mr. Pham Dinh Phong - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage; Dr. Nguyen Van Doan - Director of the National Museum of History, Member of the National Cultural Heritage Council; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Thom - Head of the Preservation Department of the National Museum of History.
Previously, as reported by Van Hoa , the People's Committee of Hue city sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism asking for opinions on establishing a national council to assess the extent of damage and restore the Nguyen Dynasty Throne treasure.
There are two proposed options, one is that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism establishes a Council or the Ministry authorizes the People's Committee of Hue City to establish it and invites the leader of the Department of Cultural Heritage to be the Chairman of the Council.
Hue City also proposed to invite experts who are representatives of cultural management agencies, research experts, and antique restoration experts in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hue to participate, with an expected number of 11 people.
The scientific council will assess the extent of damage, analyze and propose methods to restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty Throne, as well as make recommendations and solutions for regular protection and preservation.
After the plan is approved by the competent authorities, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center will carry out the restoration and rehabilitation of the treasure with the participation of artisans and under the close supervision of the Council.
The national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, was damaged and the armrest (left) was broken by Ho Van Phuong Tam on May 24, causing a stir in public opinion. The case is being investigated by Hue City Police.
After the incident, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and related units have implemented urgent solutions to ensure the safety of the relics, national treasures, and valuable artifacts that this unit is preserving and displaying.
