The Vietnamese U21 women's volleyball team is in high spirits after two victories against Indonesia and Serbia. Meanwhile, the Canadian U21 team has lost all their matches since the start of the tournament.
This time, coach Nguyen Trong Linh made one change to the starting lineup. Middle blocker Le Thuy Linh was included in the starting XI, replacing Le Nhu Anh. The remaining positions were unchanged, including Dang Thi Hong, Pham Quynh Huong, Ngo Thi Bich Hue, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Lai Thi Khanh Huyen, and libero Ha Kieu Vy.
In the opening minutes of set 1, both teams created a back-and-forth battle. Then, Vietnam U21 gradually pulled ahead to win 25-19.
In the second set, Coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team held the initiative for most of the time. However, a lapse in concentration in the final minutes led to a heartbreaking 24-26 defeat.
Also in this set, libero Ha Kieu Vy was replaced by Nguyen Lan Vy. It is unclear whether there were any unfortunate injuries to the Vietnam U21 team.
Fortunately, this change didn't significantly affect the team's overall result. In set 3, the Vietnam U21 team wasn't as effective in both attacking and blocking as their opponents. However, they rarely made regrettable mistakes. Conversely, the Canada U21 team lost the set with 24 unforced errors. Vietnam U21 won the set 25-19.
In set 4, things suddenly became surprisingly easy. High spirits and a versatile playing style helped the Vietnam U21 team quickly take a 6-0 lead. The Canada U21 team had to call a timeout early, but couldn't improve. The Vietnamese girls widened the gap to 13-0 before losing their first point of the set.
Ultimately, they achieved an incredible 25-5 score in the fourth set, securing a 3-1 victory overall. This result also gave the Vietnam U21 team their third win at this year's U21 World Championship. Coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team is now closer to securing a place in the round of 16.
