In preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, the team participated in the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship held in Thailand and won the silver medal after losing to the host in the final.

VHO - On the morning of December 1, the Vietnamese men's road cycling team left Ho Chi Minh City for Thailand, preparing for the competition days at the 33rd SEA Games.

The team's goal at SEA Games 33 is to try their best to compete with high determination and achieve the best result, which is to defend the gold medal won at SEA Games 31.

The handball event at the 33rd SEA Games will take place from December 8 to 17 in Chonburi (Thailand). The men's handball event will see the participating teams including Thailand (host), Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.

The women's road cycling team is expected to compete for the gold medal.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's road cycling team participated in the 33rd SEA Games with racers Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai, Lam Thi Kim Ngan and Lam Thi Thuy Duong.

Among them, Nguyen Thi That is still the number 1 hope as she was the Asian champion 3 times in 2018, 2019, 2023 and won gold medals in 5 consecutive SEA Games.

With the presence of Nguyen Thi That alongside familiar teammates in the national team and An Giang women's cycling team, the Vietnamese women's road cycling team is aiming for the 33rd SEA Games with the goal of competing for gold medals in the road and speed categories.

Previously, on December 2, the Vietnamese men's road cycling team left for Thailand to quickly get familiar with the competition route.
