A view of the training session.
The training course organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province is a practical activity aimed at raising responsibility for preserving and promoting the value of Phu Tho Xoan singing heritage, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The training course was attended by 45 participants, including officials, artists, and actors from the Lac Hong Theater, the Cultural and Information Center - Cinema, the Phu Tho Provincial Museum, the Tourism Promotion Information Center, and the Phu Tho Provincial Library.
The trainees received direct instruction from People's Artist Nguyen Thi Lich - the head of the An Thai Xoan singing troupe, an Outstanding Artist of the original Xoan singing troupes, and experienced assistant lecturers in research and teaching of Xoan singing from the Cultural Information - Film Center and the Phu Tho Provincial Museum.
During the training course, participants were taught about the history and cultural value of Xoan singing; performance skills in singing, dancing, and drumming; practical skills in performing ancient Xoan songs belonging to the three stages of singing: worship songs, ritual songs, and festival songs (inviting the king, firecracker songs, abandoning the set, and fish-making songs); methods of combining traditional practices with modern promotion and communication requirements; and skills in creating artistic products to serve tourism, festivals, and cultural exchange activities.
Through this training course, participants will improve their skills and enhance their understanding of the heritage, thereby becoming a core force in performing, introducing, and promoting Xoan singing at festivals, cultural events, tourism activities, and exchange programs both domestically and internationally.
This is also an opportunity for artisans, lecturers, and students to interact and exchange experiences, contributing to connecting the younger generation with heritage and creating a sustainable teaching environment within the community.
At the end of the training course, participants will report on their progress by performing Xoan singing acts and will be awarded a certificate of participation.
