Fine dust covers the sky, people in the capital have difficulty breathing after a series of days of pollution ( Video : Hai Yen - Khanh Vi).
Since the beginning of the week, Hanoi's sky has been continuously covered by a layer of white haze due to the high concentration of fine dust.
For many days now, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien (55 years old, Phuong Liet) has prioritized environmentally friendly means of transport when traveling within the city.
“Polluted days like this make me realize the importance of clean air. Normally I scan the code to rent a bike. Yesterday, there was an electric bike option, so I really wanted to try it.
Not only Ms. Hien, many other people have also proactively switched to using public transport due to the air pollution.

In recent days, air quality in Hanoi has been consistently at bad to very bad levels (Photo: Manh Quan).
On the morning of December 3, air quality continued to deteriorate when the IQAir application ranked Hanoi among the 10 most polluted cities in the world . The Air Quality Index (AQI) reached the red threshold, a level harmful to health, especially for people with underlying respiratory diseases.
By noon of the same day, IQAir data recorded Hanoi as being among the top four most polluted areas in the world. The city recorded an AQI of 208, which is considered very unhealthy.
The concentration of fine dust PM2.5 reached 133.0 µg/m³, many times higher than the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO) of 15 µg/m³ on a 24-hour average.
According to health experts, the pollution that lasts for many days makes people susceptible to symptoms such as eye irritation, headaches, shortness of breath and fatigue.
Experts say that increasing the use of public transport, reducing emissions from personal traffic and expanding urban green areas are necessary directions to improve air quality in the coming time.
