The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a rapid warning about flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence caused by heavy rain or runoff in the provinces of Lai Chau, Dien Bien , Son La, and Lao Cai, along with a 10-day weather forecast.

Accordingly, in the past 6 hours (from 4 am to 10 am on September 22nd), moderate to heavy rain has fallen in the provinces of Lai Chau , Dien Bien, and Lao Cai, such as: Nam Cuoi 91.4mm (Lai Chau); Muong Dun 51mm (Dien Bien); Kim Son 40.4mm (Lao Cai),…

Many areas in the provinces of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, and Lao Cai are under warning for the risk of flash floods and landslides.

Forecasts indicate that over the next 6 hours, the provinces of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, and Lao Cai will continue to experience rain with accumulated rainfall generally ranging from 20-40mm, and in some areas exceeding 80mm. There is a very high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes in these provinces, especially in the following districts:

Lai Châu: Mường Tè, Sìn Hồ, Phong Thổ, Nậm Nhùn, Tam Đường, Tân Uyên, Than Uyên, Lai Châu City.

Dien Bien: Muong Nha, Nam Po, Muong Cha, Tua Chua, Tuan Giao, Muong Ang, Muong Lay Town.

Son La: Quynh Nhai, Muong La, Thuan Chau. Son La City.

Lao Cai: Bao Thang, Bao Yen, Bac Ha, Sa Pa Town, Bat Xat, Lao Cai City, Van Ban.

The meteorological agency also warned that flash floods and landslides can have very serious impacts on the environment, threatening people's lives; causing localized traffic congestion, affecting the movement of vehicles; destroying public and economic infrastructure, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.

According to the latest weather forecast from the meteorological agency, on September 22nd, both day and night, the southern South China Sea, the sea area from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang, and the Gulf of Thailand will experience showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind (level 7-8).

In Northern Vietnam, and the northern and central parts of Central Vietnam, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night, with sunny days, and some areas experiencing hot weather.

In the South Central region, Central Highlands, and Southern Vietnam, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the late afternoon and evening, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

Weather forecast from the night of September 23rd to October 1st.

In Northern Vietnam, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected around September 28-29.

From around September 29th, the North Central region will experience showers and scattered thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain.

From around September 24th, the central and southern central regions of Vietnam will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.

In the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam, from September 24-25, there will be showers and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with localized heavy to very heavy rain.

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
