Nguyen Thi Hao's family is one of the households with a long tradition of making banh chung in Khoong village. Normally, the facility produces 150-200 banh chung each day, but from December 20th until near Tet, the number increases to 1,000-2,000 banh chung each day.
"To make a delicious banh chung, the maker must calculate the amount of rice, beans, and meat in balance. Whether the order is large or small, the product quality must still be put first, the process of each cake must still be fully implemented, especially in the selection and preparation of ingredients. Now that there is a lot of supply on the market, my family must always maintain the brand and reputation as the top priority," said Ms. Hao.
To make a delicious banh chung, the baker must calculate the right amount of rice, beans, and meat.
This Lunar New Year, it is expected that the banh chung craft village in Duc Tho will supply the market inside and outside the province with over 150,000 - 200,000 banh chung, priced from 25,000 - 50,000 VND/piece depending on the type. Therefore, before that, production facilities must prepare a large quantity of raw materials such as dong leaves, sticky rice, green beans, meat...
Along with the development, nowadays, most households use electric pots to boil cakes, which is convenient, does not pollute the environment but still retains the unique flavor of the cake, and is trusted by customers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha - owner of Hao Trach green banh chung production facility said: "The wrapped cakes will be cooked for 7 hours to reach maturity. When taken out, the cakes have the gentle green color of dong leaves, the sticky aroma of sticky rice, the rich taste of green beans, the fatty taste of pork, the fragrant smell of pepper... Modern life means many families do not have time to wrap banh chung anymore, we, the craftsmen, appreciate our job even more when preserving and promoting traditional beauty."
According to experienced people in making banh chung in Khoong village, the cake must be cooked for 7 hours.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, who has over 30 years of experience in wrapping banh chung, said: “I can wrap 50 banh chung per hour. Wrapping by hand will be more firm and even than using a wooden mold to wrap the banh chung. Each banh chung is wrapped as a wish for a peaceful and happy new year that the traditional craftsmen in Khoong village want to send to everyone, every family.
Famous since ancient times, so the days before Tet, the atmosphere in Khoong village is even more bustling. Most of the establishments will ship goods to wholesalers or to the market, but many customers also come to the place to get the cakes. At this time, every batch of cakes is sold out. Ms. Tran Thi Ha - a customer in Ha Tinh city said: "Khoong village's banh chung has been famous since ancient times for its very unique taste. Therefore, every year during Tet, I come to the place to order cakes for the whole family."
