On March 14th, information from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee indicated that, after surveying and working with the leaders of Hoa Binh province, the two sides agreed to invest in a road project connecting the Ho Chi Minh Highway (in Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa province) with National Highway 6 (in Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province).
Leaders of Thanh Hoa and Hoa Binh provinces have agreed to invest in a road project connecting the Ho Chi Minh Highway (in Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa province) with National Highway 6 (in Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province).
The project has a total length of 88.5km, of which approximately 69km is in Thanh Hoa province and approximately 19.5km is in Hoa Binh province. The total investment for the project is estimated at around 15,400 billion VND (of which approximately 8,500 billion VND is for the section in Thanh Hoa province and approximately 6,900 billion VND is for the section in Hoa Binh province).
The investment and construction of this transportation route will form a major transportation axis connecting the Northwest and North Central regions. It will gradually complete this important regional transportation axis along the East-West economic corridor, connecting from the coastal road, National Highway 10, National Highway 1, the Eastern North-South Expressway, the Ho Chi Minh Highway, National Highway 217, National Highway 6, and the Hanoi-Hoa Binh-Son La-Dien Bien Expressway, as outlined in the Thanh Hoa Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 153/QD-TTg dated February 27, 2023.
Hoa Binh Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Phi Long (left in the photo) and Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Do Trong Hung affirmed that investing in the road is necessary and will create momentum to promote socio-economic development in both provinces.
The project will connect provinces from the mountainous Northwest region of Vietnam (Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh) to the North Central coastal region with its large seaport and airport systems (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An).
Simultaneously, it creates momentum for tourism development and the circulation of goods through the logistics system... promoting socio-economic development, contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of the economy in each locality, and strengthening national security and defense.
The two localities of Thanh Hoa province have agreed on a route plan, with the starting point at Ho Chi Minh Highway in Quang Trung commune, Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa province; the end point at National Highway 6 in Phu Cuong commune, Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province; and the connecting point between the two provinces at Km 69+00, in the border area between Ba village, Lung Cao commune, Ba Thuoc district and Ton Trong village, Van Son commune, Tan Lac district.
Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Do Trong Hung and Hoa Binh Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Phi Long both affirmed the significance, necessity, and importance of investing in the road, not only creating momentum to promote socio-economic development of the two provinces, but also contributing to strengthening regional linkages and bringing many benefits to provinces in the Northwest region.
To implement the project, the leaders of the two provinces agreed to establish a working group headed by the Vice Chairmen of the People's Committees of the two provinces in charge of transportation, who will regularly exchange information and promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles to accelerate the implementation progress.
We strive to complete all relevant documents and procedures for submission to the competent authority for consideration and decision on the investment policy for the project in September 2024.
