In 2013, Vietnam's information technology (IT) industry generated nearly $34 billion in revenue, employing 440,000 people in 13,800 businesses. The software and IT services sector contributed $2.8 billion in revenue, with over 11,500 businesses and approximately 160,000 programmers; not only meeting domestic IT application needs but also beginning to establish itself on the global IT map.
Over the past 10 years, all industry indicators have increased fivefold. According to representatives of the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), total industry revenue reached $148 billion, with 1.3 million employees in 2023.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa said he has witnessed many inspiring stories of digital transformation from domestic technology companies.
Furthermore, digital technology businesses have achieved impressive growth despite the volatile economic period. In the export services market, MOR Software and Savvycom have doubled in size, while CMC Global has grown by 70%. The domestic market has recorded significant growth figures, such as One Mount (80%), Viettel Cyber Security and FPT Smart Cloud (100%), and ITSOL (90%).
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of VINASA, stated: "The Top 10 Vietnamese Digital Technology Enterprises 2023 witnessed many inspiring stories about digital transformation and the passion and systematic investment of businesses in research and development to create new, excellent technology products owned by Vietnamese people."
In addition, many businesses are investing in research and development of new technologies such as semiconductor chips, Generative AI, and Blockchain. These companies are present in over 20 countries, employ tens of thousands of people, and are digitally transforming Fortune 500 companies and leading global corporations such as Airbus, Boeing, Unilever, Hitachi, etc., and are partners with major technology companies like Google, Microsoft, IBM, and AWS.
