Fresh flowers are an indispensable item for this occasion.

As Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20th approaches, the atmosphere at major flower markets like Quang Ba and Quang An (Tay Ho district) becomes increasingly bustling and crowded. Not only are vendors busy preparing fresh flowers, but people are also taking the opportunity to visit the markets to choose the most beautiful bouquets to give to their loved ones.

The Quang Ba and Quang An night flower markets operate year-round, but are usually busiest from after midnight until dawn. As October 20th approaches, the flower buying and selling scene becomes more bustling than ever, creating a crowded, noisy "sea of people."

Ms. BMC (Dong Da district) - a customer buying flowers at Quang Ba market - shared: “This year, the number of customers here is very large. I was wrapping flowers at home for customers who ordered online, and even though I arrived at 10 am, I still hadn't finished exploring the market by 11 am because it was so crowded. From one end of the market to the other, every place was crowded, noisy, chaotic, with people arguing over prices and fighting over where to park their vehicles...”

As October 20th approaches, the gift market for "the other half of the world " is bustling with a wide variety of products and prices. In particular, fresh flowers have increased in price by 10-15%, and for some types of flowers like daisies, prices have skyrocketed by 100-200% compared to normal days.

As an indispensable commodity, fresh flowers are experiencing increasing demand. With a wide variety of designs and styles, fresh flowers are sold on many streets, such as Hai Ba Trung Street (Hoan Kiem District), Nguyen Khang Street, Nghia Tan Street (Cau Giay District), Vu Tong Phan Street (Thanh Xuan District), Kim Ma Street (Ba Dinh District)... It's not difficult for consumers to choose a bouquet they like.

According to a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, flowers sold on Vu Tong Phan street (Thanh Xuan district) are priced from 100,000 to 300,000 VND per bouquet. Ms. Khue, the owner of a flower shop, said: "Flower prices have increased for the past week and are expected to continue rising in the next 1-2 days. Roses have seen the sharpest price increase, 2-3 times higher than usual."

This year's October 20th falls on a weekend, bringing more positive signs for revenue. Ms. Mai Ly excitedly shared that the number of orders has increased significantly. Offices and companies mainly order large flower arrangements priced between 700,000 and 2,000,000 VND per arrangement; while smaller bouquets of 1-2 flowers are usually given as gifts to individuals. However, according to Ms. Mai Ly, bouquets priced between 250,000 and 350,000 VND are the most popular.

According to Ms. Ngoc Mai, the owner of a flower shop on Kim Ma Street, high-end flower arrangements priced from 2,000,000 to 3,500,000 VND are also popular, not only because of their high aesthetic value but also because they last longer. These arrangements are usually decorated with a combination of many types of flowers, especially imported flowers, or this year's trending flowers are succulents from Da Lat or orchids, with many vibrant colors.

Quang Ba and Quang An flower markets – "Hot spots" for the October 20th flower season.

The Quang Ba and Quang An wholesale flower markets (Tay Ho district) are must-visit destinations for traders and residents looking for fresh flowers at affordable prices. The abundance of fresh flowers, coupled with high demand, creates a vibrant and bustling atmosphere. However, this high demand and large number of customers also lead to overcrowding and pushing.

According to reporters, tulips are priced from 120,000 to 350,000 VND, three times higher than usual. Dalat roses are twice as expensive, at 120,000-150,000 VND for 20 flowers. Imported roses are twice as expensive, at 280,000-350,000 VND for 20 flowers, depending on the color. According to traders at Quang An market, imported roses currently come mainly from two of the world's largest flower producing regions: Ecuador and Kunming (China).

For some domestic flowers, prices are currently stable. For example, jasmine flowers are priced at 25,000 VND/bunch, while chrysanthemums from Tay Tuu and Nhat Tan are stable at 25,000 - 30,000 VND/bunch due to stable supply and being in peak season.

As a regular flower customer at Quang Ba market, Ms. NNH (Hoan Kiem district) said that besides some types of flowers that have increased slightly by 10-15%, there are some types that have increased sharply by 100-200%, such as gerbera daisies.

Before the holiday, a bunch of money plant flowers cost 40,000 - 45,000 VND, but before October 20th, the price of a bunch of money plant flowers had risen to 100,000 VND. Regarding the quality of the flowers, Ms. Ha affirmed that the storm and flood situation did not significantly affect the design and variety; the flowers this year are still as beautiful and fresh as in previous years.

Nevertheless, with the overcrowding at these two large flower markets, many flower buyers have become hesitant to find a suitable bouquet.
